Un terremoto de magnitud 6.1 se registró este viernes al sur de Japón, de acuerdo con el informe preliminar del Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos (USGS, por sus siglas en inglés).

El movimiento telúrico ocurrió a las 04:04:48 horas (UTC), equivalente a las 13:04 horas locales, con un epicentro localizado en las coordenadas 25.950 grados de latitud norte y 125.794 grados de longitud este, a una profundidad de 10 kilómetros.

Epicentro frente al archipiélago de Ryukyu

El epicentro se ubicó a unos 136 kilómetros al noreste de Hirara y Miyakojima, así como a aproximadamente 190 kilómetros al oeste de Naha, Itoman y Tomigusuku, en la prefectura de Okinawa.

El informe técnico del USGS señala que la localización del sismo se determinó con información de 39 estaciones sísmicas, con un margen de error horizontal estimado de 6.9 kilómetros.

Sin alerta de tsunami ni reporte de daños

Hasta el momento de la emisión del informe preliminar, las autoridades japonesas no habían informado sobre personas lesionadas, daños materiales o afectaciones relevantes derivadas del movimiento.

Asimismo, no se había emitido una alerta de tsunami asociada con este terremoto.
