In our #gig on last friday I barely heard the others on stage. There was a monitor next to me but it was blasting the sound to my ankles. And I made a big mistake but who cares. Anyhow, for the next gig I’ll bring a small #mixer to mix clicktrack and the others into my #iem
And also I’m so tempted to put the pure clicktracks onto my old #ipod classic and use it live instead my pricey Mac laying the whole night in a dark corner in my backpack. Reducing stuff to carry, reducing money put on risk 🤔 -

And something I really want to share: sometimes you get lucky, I recently managed to snap up an old UREI 1603 in mint condition for next to nothing for such a great mixer, and I don’t know how to say it in English, but the EQs really 'schmatzen' beautifully.

I got an Ankarsrum, from the official shop, because the unofficial one never responded to my email. Now I have to bake the next 500 kg of bread myself so that it pays itself off.

Thank you all! I have made up my mind, it has to be an Ankarsrum, even if it takes me months until I can afford one. Because it is so expensive, I searched around, and some webshops (and sellers at different marketplaces) are selling them for up to 70 eur less than the official webshop. But, the German Ankarsrum website is warning against them: https://www.ankarsrum.de/pages/fachhandler
"Bitte kaufe deine Ankarsrum Produkte ausschließlich bei autorisierten Vertragspartnern, da wir nur hierfür Garantie und Service in Deutschland gewährleisten können."
Can Ankarsrum legally deny me warranty because I bought their product from an unauthorised seller?
And did I understand correctly that if I move countries and there is a problem with my appliances, I can only have them repaired under warranty in the country where they were bought (although the repair shops all over Europe are listed in the warranty)?

I am well aware that under capitalism I can only count on having an appliance for the duration of the warranty. Most mixers' warranties only last 2 years. Ankarsrum's lasts 7. Ankarsrum has the strongest motor (1500W DC). It is always best in test for bread baking because the roller mimics hand kneading. It is not top heavy, the motor sits under the bowl.
I am aware that with Kitchenaid, Bosch, Kenwood, I wouldn't want an entry level model because many report that those struggle and overheat, and then the price of acceptable models would be the same as Anakrsrum's.
But, it seems most people who have an Ankarsrum use other mixers for cake batter, frosting etc. I do not know why because I watched all the Ankarsrum's videos and that thing can do everything (many attachments need to be bought separately, but whisks and bowls come with the mixer).
Does anyone have an Ankarsrum? Can it do cake batter and frosting well?
Do you have another mixer you are happy with?
ETA: I didn't mention what I need it for. Just baking for friends, colleagues, and potlucks, but would love to be able to leave IT and run a microbakery at some point.

Do you own a mixer? I need recommendations.
I've never had one. I have always hated handheld electric ones because of the mess they make. I tried food processors with dough attachments, but I always ended up whisking the cake batter by hand. (Shortcrust I've always made by hand using a pastry blender.)
Food processors, would last me as little as 5 years, something (often made of plastic) would break, and the repair shops wouldn't be able to order spare parts anymore.
I've always made yeasted dough in a bread maker. I only use the bread maker for kneading (I bake bread in the oven, I make jam in a pot on the stove, and the yoghurt program never worked for me). My current bread maker has been struggling for over a year, and is not kneading the dough well enough (the bread pan needs to be replaced, a new one costs 60 eur, and a new bread maker would cost as little as 80 eur).
When I bought a Blendtec and a Benriner, I got rid of my food processor. I started mixing aquafaba and sugar in my Blendtec, but it would struggle with further steps, especially with dense batter. (I already had to replace the Twister jar, but at least the blender warranty lasts 8 years.)
Now I am thinking about replacing the bread maker with a mixer. This is where I need your advice!

uMIXA goes public
The rollout of the first mixers has already been started. Here you now can find a collection of info at the noisio webpage. https://noisio.de/boards/umixa
More info, sounds and video is up and coming. This is where it all began last year: https://chaos.social/@noisio/113833562003094056
Unfortunately, due to feature overload, it didn’t become a DIY soldering kit. In a particularly focused environment, it might actually be possible to run a workshop on this.

With the subjects I just mentioned I only covered the surface of what Yamaha specialists can produce with their skillsets
If you purchase a Yamaha Grand Piano, Yamaha goes so far that when you've chosen it (in person!) they deliver install, secure and tune your grand piano, so your experience is similar to what their musicians and technical building experts have (had) when building and playing the Grand.
Yamaha has perfectionists who live and work by the principle of Kysen. They will tune and tweak their sublime work so it becomes even more sublime. Yamaha specialists gurus and experts do this in all fields that Yamaha is in.
Images & photographs
As you see I've included photographs of an 8 channel Yamaha portable mixing system, designed for micro live performance, with a build in two channel class D amplifier, and a set of dual driver speakers / monitors, which I use when I need balanced physical PA speaker output, that my sets of headphones cannot produce, in the studio, simply because the physics in combination with the acoustics prohibits such output.
The system is tuned to the space, thus is small.
It delivers a balanced flat sound up to 90dB of SPL in the this closed real world setting, if needed (though that is rare)
This level has been measured (and is regularly done). I do this to make sure I don't overload my ears with dB thus damaging my precious engineering organsYamaha in my personal and Pro live
Yamaha plays an important role in my professional PA live.
- I have mixing consoles made by them, which blow all others just plain out of the water, when I chose those Yamaha consoles.Note 1
- microphones

- speaker systems
- full range
- monitors (floor)
- subwoofers
In my musical live Yamaha plays an important role too. I have instruments ranging from the humble recorder to
- string instruments
- brass
- many others, too many to specify here
Note 1
Naturally I have specialized mixers from other brands which do an excellent job. Yamaha does not make those, so I have no fields of comparable parametersZ

❤ #dj #life
