  1. Stages of mitosis 🔬

How one cell becomes two identical cells — the process that allows growth, healing, and life itself.

    5 stages:

    • Interphase: DNA loosely coiled, cell prepares

    • Prophase: Chromosomes condense, nucleus breaks down

    • Metaphase: Chromosomes align at center

    • Anaphase: Chromatids split apart

    • Telophase: Two nuclei form, cell begins to split

Result: Two daughter cells with identical DNA.

  35. Two preprints in one day? Yes, indeed!

James and Selena lead this wonderful paper showing
    1) the structural details of the interaction between TACC3 and ch-TOG
    2) how Affimers can be used to compete this interaction
    3) that inhibiting the interaction in live cells has an unexpected effect - PCM fragmentation.

Fun collaboration between our lab and many others including Mark Pfuhl's, Richard Bayliss’s groups and others at Leeds!
