  1. Mitakuye Oyasin: Alle meine Verwandten!

  2. "Be kind. Every person you meet is fighting a difficult battle." Plato.

Sometimes, you need to look behind the fourth curtain to see which battle that may be. It might well be a battle you've already fought. But your way probably won't be their way. Don't expect it to be.

Be kind. It may plant a seed for that person, a seed that germinates later and helps them find peace.

Be kind. It helps them. It helps you. We are all connected.

  4. From Pine Ridge to Palestine: Indigenous Solidarity in the Ceasefire Movement - An Interview with Nick Tilsen, who is #Jewish and #OgalaLakota

    by Cristina Veran
    February 2024

"My Grandpa Ken always believed—and I also believe—that #Zionism was, and will always be, at odds with justice, so that has long been part of my political orientation.

"I am not against Jewish People having their own land, at all. What I am against is [#Israel as] a #SettlerColonial government that, by design, violates other people’s #HumanRights and becomes an avenue for #imperialism. For Jews out there who see Zionism as some kind of Indigenous rights movement, I say, 'You are misguided.' That movement is leading to #fascism, to the very things that are against #IndigenousValues about the interdependency that we all have as Peoples. In the #Lakota language, we say ‘#MitákuyeOyásiŋ’—we are all related."

  5. Passè

Someday, perhaps, the hype of skin
    will be less about melanin...
But til that day I hope you wear
    what nature gave without despair,
that pride is part of who you are
as much as any random star
whose aspect close is red or blue
but from a distance shines a hue
    too bright to adequately define
your light... it sparkles just like mine.

  6. 3 Good Things, Thanksgiving Edition

    1. Shared land, honored spirit; we are in a turmoil of land and habitation and stewardship that is centuries and millennia old, and I believe that's what we are here to reimagine. I appreciate the land, its spirit, and the opportunity to reimagine.
    2. My son was born during Thanksgiving dinner, and sometimes his birthday and the holiday coincide; this is one of those years. He's a wonderful and appreciative soul. Both kids are (his brother was born on Indian Republic Day, aligning with my side of the family). Appreciating family today.
    3. My children are descended from Mayflower people on their dad's side and that has been both a conflict and a blessing - today, I recognize the blessing in the invitation to be part of a larger conversation about who we are. I appreciate the whole weave.
