I tried #Milktea. There is another one called #MissRirica but images are not loading if you use a Calckey instance (but it could be on my account only).

@[email protected] That’s what Google Translate is for! 👍🏾 I usually copy, select & translate within the MissRirica app, but it would be cool if there was an auto translate feature within the app. Similar to what @[email protected] has with Mastodon.

According to FediDB it seems as if Misskey has surpassed Peertube to become the 2nd most popular Fediverse software option available (this does not include variants or forks).

@kainoa @atomicpoet Yeah, search in #Misskey was turned off by default after version 13.0 (I am not sure why). I had to turn it back on in settings.

I believe end users are less concerned about the tech behind the app used (as in #MissRirica case) & are more concerned about the options the app presents.

That said, #Calckey probably needs an official app for iPhone & iPad, as searching for it in the App Store results in folks seeing…a calculator app (which may confuse users).

@atomicpoet Huh‽ #Misskey & #Mastodon have search.

Misskey turns their off by default (you can easily turn it on within settings) & Mastodon requires you to implement the #ElasticSearch code on your instance. I use search on both of my solo instances.

Misskey does not have an official app, but #MissRirica replicates most (if not all) of the options on the web interface (something most official apps on other platforms can not do yet).

Good news:

Finally gotten #MissRirica to work on the #MacOS side of things! (Which will also translate to #Android if I use that version).

Bad News:

A. Ya need to generate an access token from the #Misskey instance you’re on via the web interface among the ‘Settings’ section.
B. Not surprisingly, the app’s interface is… Um…

Personally, I use #Milktea. There is also #MissRirica (not in the list above) but I'm having some image loading issues with it currently.

@dangero @zyz @feditips @calckey On Android, the only app that works decently well is #MilkTea.

On IOS I hear #MissRirica is working alright for some, though on the Silicon Mac side, all I’m getting are hangups at the server screen.

Ok, so if you are on Apple’s beta iOS / iPadOS & using MissRirica & the Misskey icons disappear, there is a way to get them back!

Just locate the Switch UI setting & switch to a different layout & they will return (you can always switch back to the one you had before).

No need to hassle @[email protected] / @[email protected] as this is a quick fix! 😂🤣😂

Hey @[email protected] / @[email protected], after updating to the latest beta OS on iPhone & iPad, I noticed some of the buttons in MissRirica are not showing (navigation buttons on iPhone & the reply, remote, etcetera, on iPad).

I have tried #Caclkey & it’s okay & a decent fork of Misskey.

As far as mobile clients go, checkout #MissRirica which is what I use for Misskey (it’s compatible with Calckey too).

I ran into similar issues via the web too weeks ago.

The issues later on mostly dissappeared aft one many Misskey instances upgraded to version 13.x (I am not sure which version specifically) but it is a lot more stable now, both within the MissRirica app & online (at least on Misskey).

I am trying to recreate the error, but I am not seeing it on #Calckey yet. I wonder if it's because I am on 13.x beta‽ My test account is @[email protected] & it seems okay thus far. I will keep testing though.

Hmmm, finding similar problem to #Calckey blank screen when looking at profiles in PWA is occurring in #MissRirica app. Profile overview is blank, but other profile sections are populated.

Another problem in #MissRirica app is that I can't switch from my alt account back to this account. It just hangs. Don't know if issue relates to the other, but including it in case devs can see a correlation.

I am running a standalone instance on Misskey & typing this in the MissRirica.

I've quickly compiled a bunch of posts about apps that support #Calckey, using the clip feature within Calckey. The good news is that #Mastodon API is coming very soon for those of you already using #tusky #tooot #tootbot #megalodon #metatext etc.

There are already some #Misskey -based apps that support Calckey's wide set of features, particularly #MissRirica

Calckey also works well as a progressive web app (PWA) on your phone or tablet.

Probably the biggest downside to using the #Calckey software on blahaj.zone is the lack of integration with the popular #Mastodon apps that run Gargron's API.

Thankfully the app situation is developing fast. My understanding is that Mastodon API implementation is just weeks away. [Calckey isn't #Mastodon, it's a hard fork of #Misskey]

While there's a bunch of apps developed for Misskey [#MissRirica is my fave] that work with Calckey, Calckey offers at pretty good experience as a progressive web app (PWA) on mobile [how I access it most commonly on iOS], and there's also plenty of development of Kaiteki (now on #Android, with #iOS to come) and word of an officially supported app hit to the app stores very soon. #fediverse #feditips #apps #fediverseapps #mastodonapps

I also need to use an API key when logging into MissRirica too, which is very different from most Fediverse app (they use the standard email/username & password setup).

I know there are other apps like #CounterSocial (which is based on #Mastodon) who use a web wrapper for their #iPhone / #Android apps, but it mirrors the website perfectly. In fact changes on one affects the other.

With MissRirica, if I alter widgets on my #Misskey instance, those changes are not shown on my iPad or iPhone (I had to edit both manually).

Usually a web wrapper app would implement changes immediately, but MissRirica behaves more like a native app when I make changes. I wonder why that is‽

Even certain features (like when I select & highlight text) are in Japanese as opposed to English on the web.

@[email protected] @[email protected] I'm trying Kimis now. I couldn't work out how to get in to #MissRirica on iOS. Kept getting error in Japanese. Probably doesn't help that I have 2FA enabled, though Kimis handled that fine.

@[email protected] You should try using #MissRirica (for #Android, #iPhone & #iPad) who does a phenomenal job at replicating most (if not all) of the features from the website.

It’s compatible with #Misskey & #Calckey (I am trying it on the latter after I finish typing this post).

There is one called #SocialHub on the App Store that supports #Pleroma, #Mastodon, #Pixelfed, #Misskey & potentially #Calckey too.

I have never seen a #Fediverse app—or any app truthfully—use close to 100% of the features from the Fediverse website (it might be 100%).

I think the closest comparison is the #WordPress app by Automattic (at least on the #iPhone & #iPad beta app), but so far I do not see any that hold a candle to MissRirica.

My only concern is that the app is free (I would gladly pay $10 per month for the app!) & I hope the developer keeps improving the app over time.

Since she does not accept Apple Payments yet, I am backing the app on Patreon right now.

So I am loving #Misskey on my own instance thus far, & I am testing out a new Managed Misskey hosting option from @[email protected] (https://12vpx.com/social-network).

This allows folks to launch their own Misskey instance without having to mess around with any technical details.

I am thankful @[email protected] for adding Misskey as an option, as I believe it will appeal to people who have been upset about #Mastodon not supporting quote postings (which Misskey does).

I also need to thank the lovely @[email protected] for creating #MissRirica (available on #iPhone, #iPad & #Android) which convinced me to take a deep dive into Misskey.

Although MissRirica is free, I encourage folks to support her efforts to bring Misskey to the mobile masses by becoming a Patreon member (I have already done this).
