Margaret Rutherford ist bekannt als die einzig wahre Verkörperung von Agatha Christies schrulliger Detektivin “Miss Marple”, In dieser Rolle wird die englische Schauspielerin und Oscar-Preisträgerin bis heute verehrt.
Margret Rutherford kam erst mit 33 Jahren in einem Shakespeare-Stück zu ihrem ersten Bühnenauftritt. International bekannt wurde sie in der Hauptrolle in dem Film „16h50 ab Paddington“, der Verfilmung eines Krimis von Agatha Christie. Die fand sie allerdings in der Rolle der säuerlichen alten Jungfer viel zu komisch. Den Krimi ihres eigenen Lebens versuchte Margret Rutherford vor der Öffentlichkeit zu verbergen: Ihr eigener Vater erschlug ihren Großvater in einer Pension mit einem Nachttopf. Immer in Geldnöten, blieb Rutherford zeitlebens eine Getriebene: nirgendwo zu Hause, außer auf der Bühne, die ihr Leben bedeutete. Ein Feature von Hannelore Hippe.

Without surprise, my choice for todays’s #MurderEveryMonday is Miss Marple’s last case, Sleeping Murder. The book was written during the Second World War and given as a gift (its copyright) to her husband Max. Curtain, the last case of Poirot, was also written around the same time and given to her Daughter, Rosalind. in her autobiography, Christie adds the manuscripts were put into a bank vault. Sleeping Murder was published in 1976, after Christie’s death.

My problem with watching Miss Marple (1984) is that it requires memorizing the first and last names of every involved character, something my brain is not good at. I typically fail to register names in fiction without context clues. So they're all, Mr. Jefferson this and Conway that, and I have no idea who they're talking about. It's not something I can watch when I have any brain fog at all.
I'm hoping this will get easier once I get to know the recurring characters, so i only have to focus on new people. I'm almost done with the library one (which I've watched over several days) and I'm so lost.
