A new 10th Anniversary Critical Role (complete) Tarot card set was released yesterday and it's a been a long time since I've bought something that fast.
They've released Limited Major Arcana sets before but never full Major & Minor Arcana

Week of February 16th-22nd

1. The Spotlight: The II of Wands
2. Hidden Strengths: The High Priest
3. Retrograde Reflection: The X of Swords
4. Mars Motivation: Queen of Swords
5. Jupiter’s Wisdom: Knight of SwordsSo two wands (one pip, one court), two swords (one pip, one court) and one major. Wands running north-south, swords running west-easy. How balanced! I find this aesthetically pleasing and reassuring.

To tie it all together, I’m not wrong to be distressed by disingenuous behavior from [redacted], but even though I really want to Do Something about it, the wisest course of action for the next little while will be to practice patience & refrain from interfering.
That King of Wands energy can be better directed elsewhere, to work-work & maybe even creative projects. But not toward The Situation, no matter how badly I burn with righteous indignation
-
Present, the King of #Wands: “…everything a leader should be: strong, powerful, ambitious, and experienced.”
Is he my favorite card in this particular deck? Maybe! Look how cute our little king is. He’s having fun untroubled by self-doubt or anxiety. He’s really earned the right to enjoy the privileges of his position, and he fulfills his responsibilities with a light heart and the kind of creative energy I really covet. His attitude is one I’m glad to embrace.

Finally we arrive at the fifth card, The Outcome, the card that sheds “light on the potential outcome or direction the new beginning may lead to.”
I like this Queen because I associate her with my parents’ adorable and malevolent cat, Christine. Christine is acknowledged as the Queen of Batons (or wands/rods/staves/whatever) in our family. 🐈⬛

…e.g. Instead of a series of little treats for myself, what if I saved up so we can travel to see nieces & nephews? Or to bring them up here?
Or what if I directed more resources toward gifts to worthy nonprofits, or to meaningful mutual aid?
Hmm. How can I get smarter about money in ways that help build stronger relationships and maybe make the world better in small but real ways? 🤔

…booklet says of the IV of #Pentacles: “Denotes one possessive of material things, impressed with the power such possession wields. May also mean inheritance, gift, legacy.”
Intriguing. Maybe what this card invites me to consider is indeed a healthier attitude toward saving versus spending. What really matters in life? And how can I use the resources I’ve been lucky enough to receive to better serve what’s truly important?

All right, those were some delicious enchiladas. Back to interpreting my #Jupiter #Trine #Pluto reading!
Ahem.
Card 3, The Encouragement (Jupiter), provides “insights or guidance on how to navigate the change utilizing opportunities on the horizon.”
I associate this card with holding on too hard/hoarding/grasping at money and material things…but maybe also a more prudent attitude toward saving?

…which is fine and whatever as long as I’m not compromising our security. I take this card as a warning to rein it in now before things get actually precarious.
Indulgence doesn’t feel so good if it comes with a queasy side of worrying whether you can continue to meet your obligations—or if you’re robbing yourself of more profound future joys by indulging the whim of the moment.

Interpreting The V of Pentacles for myself this evening, it does feel a little on the nose. 😬 My spending has been prodigal. I’ve impulse-purchased stuff I probably shouldn’t have, and I’ve indulged a lot (e.g. the mani-pedi I got earlier this afternoon.)
In the aftermath of the most intense couple months of my career, I think I’ve been very ready to cut loose and treat myself…

1. The Current Condition: The V of Pentacles
My associations for this card: lack. Fear or anxiety about not having enough, or fear of losing what you have. Failing to look up and see a source of help—of refuge and assistance. (Or depending on the context, an entity or organization that should be providing material support to the needy failing to do so.)
The booklet says: “Material or spiritual impoverishment; loneliness.”

The Eight of Cups: Indolence"Fast by her Side a listless Maiden pin'd,
With aching Head, and squeamish Heart-Burnings;
Pale, bloated, cold, she seem'd to hate Mankind,
Yet lov'd in Secret all forbidden Things."
