If any "news" website refuses to let independent archivists like the Wayback Machine archive their articles, I refuse to call it a news source. If they can change or remove their articles on the fly, and there's no way to prove it, that's not a news site (as in 'newspaper of record'), it's a propaganda platform (digital MiniTrue).

After the mosque shootings in Christchurch, #NZ news sites started taking down the islamaphobic op-eds they've been publishing for years. Without archived versions anti-racist activists can point to, the newspapers could get away with pretending innocence and pointing the bone at social media as the font of anti-Muslim sentiment in NZ.
