I've been on this Ars Magica trip lately. The first edition I ever saw was the 2nd and it opened spaces. The later ones where massive turn offs. The 2nd ed rekindled my curiosity as I read it again lately.

Having gotten and read the supplement "Order of Hermes", even though it's not one of the later humongous and dense ones, I once more felt it was a slog.

It's a game with so much potentail that drowns in bummers as it gets detailed.

The forces that generate our magnetic field are constantly changing, which means the field itself is always in flux. As it shifts, it slowly drags the magnetic north and south poles along with it.

@mWare FreeBSD has “build options” to controls what is included or removed from the build, as simple as “WITHOUT_VI” if you are @gumnos and only want ed(1), but can remove fancy things like IPv4 networking or bhyve.

This fundamental feature:

3. Is why I am determining the minimum packages for a buildworld as I type and…

4. Have been on and off broken for a long time

The “build option survey” steps through all of them to see if they build and compares the result to a reference world for space savings/losses.

Most “fast” hardware available to mortals required a week or longer to run the BOS.

However, this here Ampere system with 64 cores eats it up in around 11 hours.
