They mimic the appearance of a defensive #bumblebee, with which birds, for example, have had negative experiences, but also improve pollination, a benefit especially for red plants.

  7. Li et al. studied the genomic basis of mimicry in Epicopeiidae moths, finding that TE-driven regulatory innovation rewired developmental gene networks, facilitating the emergence of multiple mimetic forms.

  8. "Humans instinctively mimic the facial expressions of monkeys and apes"

    earth.com/news/humans-instinct

"People don’t just recognize emotions on the faces of monkeys and apes. They also tend to copy those expressions without meaning to.

A new study suggests that, when we watch a non-human primate look playful or threatening, our own faces subtly echo what we see …"

You might be doing it right now 😮

  13. Animal coloration (Zoology 🦥)

Animal coloration is the general appearance of an animal resulting from the reflection or emission of light from its surfaces. Some animals are brightly coloured, while others are hard to see. In some species, such as the peafowl, the male has strong patterns, conspicuous colours and is iridescent, while the female is far less ...

#Moths of the #Saturniidae are characterized by #adults that camouflage with closed wings (#mimesis), but perform a #mimicry behavior, when disturbed by presenting their #eyespots. They have stunted/fully reduced #mouthparts and reproduce only. Species of genus #Automeris live mostly in the tropics/subtropics, #caterpillars can look #colorful and #bizarre and are defensive via stinging hairs. Exples: Automeris egeus or A. niepelti. The #caterpillar below might be related.

  16. The #honeybadger is widespread in #Africa and shares #habitats with #cheetahs. Cheetah #cubs possess a #mane-like, light-colored #fur running down their back, reminiscent of the honey badger, which is highly unpopular with #predators due to its #defensive nature. R. L. Eaton (1976) concluded that the cubs #mimic the honey badger to avoid predation. #mimicry

📷Rhinolin #caterpillar #orugas #lepidoptera #insectos #insects #mimetismo #mimicry

  22. This is a video captured yesterday in Yukon, Oklahoma last high (downscaled for space)

It shows an #orb morphing into #drone #mimicry

Multiple people have witnessed these, and of course the folks who are terrified of reality dismiss these as "lol, it's a plane that appears stationary because it's flying at you"

The person who took the video lives near a flightpath to two airports, the "plane" would have to be 300-500 feet off the ground, also there is the horizontal separation, which those two "planes" are in breach.
