I received #azul mini as an office #SecretSanta gift, and the very first thing I did before even playing it was to loose the first player tile. I made a mould from one of the other tiles and cast some #milliput then did a bunch of sanding and drew on a crude approximation of the markings. Good enough to make it playable again

Alimentación USB-C integrada en A600
Convertir un Amiga 600 en un equipo realmente portátil es una idea que muchos usuarios han considerado, pero pocas veces se ha documentado con la claridad y detalle que ofrece Ms Mad Lemon en su último vídeo. En esta primera entrega de su proyecto —centrada exclusivamente en la alimentación eléctrica del A600— nos muestra cómo adaptar el sistema para utilizar un conector USB-C, manteniendo la fiabilidad del hardware original y preparando la máquina para futuras etapas portátiles.
La idea nace de una necesidad muy concreta: disponer de una Amiga en casa de su familia para poder componer música con OctaMED mientras viaja. Para ello, la creadora se propuso transformar uno de sus A600 en una unidad compacta, resistente y alimentada mediante USB-C. Antes de comenzar, recordaba que este Amiga ya había sido modificado previamente: el modulador RF había sido retirado y ahora tocaba eliminar también el zócalo “square D”, donde originalmente se conectaba la fuente de alimentación externa. Como parte de la revisión inicial, encontró algunos componentes sueltos —algo habitual en varias de sus unidades— y se encargó de reforzarlos mediante hot glue, asegurando así la estabilidad de las soldaduras.
El corazón de la modificación se basa en una fuente DC-DC a ATX, similar a las conocidas PicoPSU. Esta pequeña unidad, probada anteriormente en su Amiga 1200 Tower, recibe 12V de entrada y genera las tensiones que la Amiga necesita para funcionar. Para alimentar esa entrada de 12V, utilizó unos pequeños módulos USB-C PD a 12V, extremadamente sencillos pero muy eficaces. Según sus especificaciones, entregan 12V / 5A, es decir, unos 60W, más que suficientes para un A500/A600 cuyo consumo rara vez supera 1A.
Uno de los detalles más interesantes es que no todos los cargadores USB-C son compatibles. Estos módulos necesitan un cargador capaz de negociar 12V, como los destinados a portátiles. Si el adaptador no soporta ese modo PD, el convertidor se quedará fijado a 5V y la Amiga no arrancará. Durante las pruebas con un Amiga 500, el conjunto demostró un consumo de tan sólo 10W, subiendo a unos 11-12W con un disco insertado. La prueba más sorprendente: el convertidor no calentaba absolutamente nada, por lo que descartó añadir el disipador que tenía preparado.
Antes de conectar nada, identificó los pines del antiguo conector “square D” mediante pruebas de continuidad y asignó +12V, +5V y GND. Sin embargo, el A600 no arrancó en el primer intento. El motivo era sencillo: las fuentes ATX necesitan que el pin PS-ON esté unido a tierra para activarse. Tras puentearlo, el sistema cobró vida de inmediato. Para integrar el conector USB-C de forma limpia, utilizó Milliput, una masilla epoxi que una vez endurecida queda resistente, sólida y muy estética. El resultado final es un puerto USB-C perfectamente alineado y robusto, acompañado por un interruptor de encendido mucho más elegante que cualquier perforación improvisada.
Durante el proceso también valoró usar un Power Shark, una solución extremadamente limpia que evita modificaciones en la carcasa. Sin embargo, lo descartó por precio y disponibilidad, ya que necesitaría uno por cada Amiga de su colección. Aprovechó la ocasión para lanzar una reflexión sobre el A600: pese a incorporar PCMCIA y componentes SMD, sus especificaciones son prácticamente las de un A500. En su opinión, Commodore debería haber apostado por al menos un 68020 y 2MB de Chip RAM.
Con la alimentación resuelta y funcionando perfectamente, el siguiente paso será continuar el proceso para lograr un Amiga 600 completamente portátil, algo que desarrollará en vídeos posteriores.

CW: First time using a Milliput and Green Stuff mix.
I'm liking it. Green Stuff stickyness but not too much and sculptability of Milliput. Allows use of metal sculpting tools unlike with Green Stuff alone.
This is a rough sculpt of an owl's skull to use as a base for sculpting an owl's head.
