  6. Saw #KoreEda's #Broker last night at the #Picturehouse (Thank you #MilkTeaAlliance) and had such a good time, crazy mismatched family road trip, Korean style, heart warming, cool, not dumb.

  7. Hear about the proposed article 23 law in Hong Kong is disturbing to say the least.

Given that it is building on the incredibly vague & broad Beijing imposed "National Security Law" which has already massively stifled freedom of speech, expression, association. Ripped through academic freedoms & made the "legal system" even more politically controlled, closed down half a dozen media outlets, caused many unions & civil society orgs to disband (over 60).

The proposals of article 23 include:
    - Developing a "internet firewall" (Basically bring a version of the great firewall to Hong Kong, making it harder to access information the government doesn't like)
    - Targeting foreign agents & “organisations in disguise” to discourage them from going to HK.
    - Clamping down on fake news & harmful information (so even more media suppression, like how much more do you need, already fucking prosecuting stand news editors for normal journalistic activity)

And this is just from one interview... it's likely to contain a hell of a lot more things.

Suppression is already heavy in HK, indeed the joke amongst some friends is that there are things they can't do in HK that they could on the mainland. Many have already taken steps to scrub their 2019 posts off the other place or left Soc Med altogether.

    It's gonna get worse.

  8. Myanmar diaspora & allies in Thailand protesting against the Junta at the embassy in BKK. ✊🏼

Gotta say Myanmar diaspora chanting at protests makes my soul sing. They got so much energy & passion. They also got songs that hit hard... (will find a link to them at some point)

The peoples of Myanmar's fight for freedom, struggle for democracy & rights wont stop till they win, raise up their voices!
