  6. “Britain’s Solar Revolution Is Here and We Should Be Shouting It From the Rooftops”

“There is an incredibly positive story to tell in the UK about green energy. The likes of Nigel Farage and Kemi Badneoch don’t want people to hear about it. But we absolutely have the means to break the addiction to oil and gas. The momentum is building, the political will is there, and the economic incentives are aligned”

  7. Ed #Miliband hold firm! North sea oil and gas drilling won’t help anyone other than Nigel #Farage - theguardian.com/commentisfree/ "It’s worrying to watch Labour entertain Reform’s fantasies about fossil fuels. Only #renewables will bring lower bills and higher energy security"

  8. #Miliband #Starmer and the rest, take note:

"Assuming that we will continue to use as much energy as we do now, but from alternative sources, and that we will continue to use more as the economy grows, is unrealistic. It’s an imaginary energy transition that is destined to continue existing only in the imagination."

  16. We can have hope for #pluginpv progress in the #UK: Energy Secretary Ed #Miliband will/has/is:

“Announcing that “plug-in solar”, low cost solar panels that families can buy at supermarkets and put on their balconies or outdoor space, will be made available in the UK (…) The Government will work at pace with the relevant bodies, consumer groups and industry to introduce new standards and amend regulations to get these onto the market as soon as possible.”

If you ask, we are ready to support the work for such standards!

  21. #Miliband
<<Support government efforts to reach net zero, but I won't mention the military, nor Rayner's building boom.>>

    #NetZero #UKPol #climate

    Note:
    When I use <<...>> It's a paraphrase, usually critical.

  22. When I woke up this morning and saw #Miliband was going to give this ‘annual statement’ and do some ‘radical truth telling’ on #ClimateBreakdown I felt a tingle of excitement go down my spine…

For getting politicians to be honest with public about their knowledge and fears on the #ClimateCrisis was a funding application I worked on 5 years ago. Better late than never!

    theguardian.com/environment/20

  23. Private home owners are expected to apply piecemeal for boiler upgrade schemes and insulation schemes, some of which are doled out based on household income, others not.

It’s a mess that I had hoped #Labour would bring ‘clarity’ to.

But I feel they’ve done nothing.

#Miliband is too ‘big picture’ on the grid and nuclear power, while #Reeves has yet to convince me she buys into #NetZero or recognises the immense threat of #ClimateBreakdown.

  24. So #Trump has withdrawn the US from the Paris climate agreement, attacked renewable power, said ‘drill baby drill’ to #FossilFuel industry and doesn’t believe in #NetZero…but sure #Miliband, you’ve scratched around and decided there is ‘common ground’ on the green rebranded concept of #nuclear.

Do you really think #Labour voters will buy that at next week’s local elections?

  25. The shallowness of Ed #Miliband.
"...announcing a planning statement to speed up the rollout of nuclear power. This is the route to economic growth enabling our country to seize the opportunities of AI and clean tech"
"The net zero economy is the economic growth opportunity of the 21st century."
"backing investment in carbon capture jobs"

  26. I would be pretty frustrated if I was Red Ed #Miliband, Environment Secretary in a #Labour government that has announced a 3rd runway at Heathrow, cosied up to Non Doms and said we need to forget about newts and bats (code for all environmental concerns) and just focus on ‘growth’.

What exactly are Labour doing today to save tomorrow?

    theguardian.com/commentisfree/

  27. "#Starmer, #Miliband and the five other cabinet members who in 2018 rejected a third runway at #Heathrow as a #ClimateDisaster have lost their sense of shame."
(Reminiscent of Johnson who was going to lie down to stop the bulldozers).

  28. "But the Guardian understands that there are qualms among some at the top of government, who are more cautious on net zero."

    Do they have names?
