Just gave an interview on my research on #earlymodern #war and the #culturalhistory of #violence - relating war experiences of the past to those of the present. The horror of human suffering, excitement at the impression of (almost) real-time media coverage, the need to hedge escalatory dynamics - all these link the early modern to our (postmodern) experiences.
Yes, we need #milhist, and not just in modern history, to understand the present! Beyond mere project funding...
