  4. Coping with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) by Mary Jordan, 2020

Adults are being increasingly diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and this book provides strategies for concerned individuals to help slow the onset of the condition. Around 50% of adults with MCI go on to develop dementia, but research shows that self-help through early intervention and preventative measures can hugely slow this down.

  5. Most of my patients with mild cognitive impairment or dementia have no idea that they have memory issues. Unlikely that #Trump would recognize (or admit) it either.

“If I was -- if I felt diminished, OK, let's use a nice term -- if I felt diminished or declined in any way, I think I'd know it. And I think I'd say, I'm not running.”

Trump is fully in control of his mental capacity because, um, he says he is fully in control of his mental capacity. Got it!

  6. What Is #MildCognitiveImpairment
    And How Is It Diagnosed?

“Millions of Americans are thought to have #MCI, though exact numbers are hard to pin down because experts say the condition is underdiagnosed. There are likely several reasons for that: M.C.I. can be tricky to identify during a primary care visit, when physicians typically only have 15 minutes or so with a patient. People may also be scared to disclose their concerns to a doctor, or might not even realize that they have a problem.”

  7. A unified view of the pathologies causing #mildcognitiveimpairment and #dementia.

Note that anti-amyloid interventions, if effective, will target only a subset of causes of MCI and dementia.

  8. Plasma #biomarkers are becoming more important in our understanding of the course of #mildcognitiveimpairment:

Plasma p-tau and NfL predict cognitive decline in people with MCI.

Not yet ready for clinical practice, but a topic to watch closely.
