Dnes slaví 73. narozeniny *Michael Gordon Oldfield*!

*Mike Oldfield*, nar. 15.5.1953, je 🇬🇧 multiinstrumentalista, skladatel a producent, který zásadně ovlivnil podobu moderní hudby propojením rocku, elektroniky, folku a vážné hudby.

Profesionální dráhu zahájil již v r. 1967 v sourozeneckém folkovém duu *The Sallyangie* se sestrou Sally. Skutečný zlom však nastal v r. 1973, kdy vydal své první sólové album *Tubular Bells*. Toto monumentální instrumentální dílo se stalo prvním titulem nově vzniklého vydavatelství *Virgin Records* a díky své kvalitě (a použití úvodního motivu ve filmu Vymítač ďábla) se stalo celosvětovým fenoménem.

Mike je známý svou schopností ovládnout desítky hudebních nástrojů. Jeho styl se v průběhu dekád proměňoval od progresive rocku a symfonických skladeb přes new age a ambient až po pop-rock 80. let.

Dosud Mike vydal 26 studiových alb. Za zmínku stojí ta nejzásadnější:

- *Tubular Bells* (1973): Definující dílo jeho kariéry.

- *Ommadawn* (1975): Je považováno za vrchol jeho folkově-etnických fúzí.

- *Crises* (1983): Obsahuje jeho největší komerční hit, popovou klasiku „Moonlight Shadow“.

- *The Songs of Distant Earth* (1994): Průkopnické dílo v oblasti digitální produkce a sci-fi atmosféry.

Za *Tubular Bells* získal v r. 1975 cenu Grammy za nejlepší instrumentální kompozici. Kromě toho je držitelem mnoha zlatých a platinových desek po celém světě.

V současné době žije Mike v ústraní na Bahamách. Jeho posledním velkým studiovým počinem bylo album *Return to Ommadawn* (2017). Ačkoliv fanoušci stále doufají v dokončení projektu *Tubular Bells 4*, Mike se věnuje především soukromému životu a k veřejnému dění se vyjadřuje jen zřídka.

My si dnes dáme po ochutnávce z jeho 8. a 9. alba.
Fajnoví šmekři si zřejmě dají nějakou kompozici v kuse. Já taky, jen co si uvařím ☕ a sednu k práci.

#MikeOldfield ist echt so einer, wo ich sogar auf den eher mittelmäßigen, späteren Alben, die ich erst jetzt langsam kennenlerne, außergewöhnlich hübsche #GutMukke-Tracks entdecke. Folgendes klingt fast wie eine Homage an Rondo Veneziano.

Woke up from a lovely dream where I was at a smart resort in Wales and I was the only resident who could fly around rather than walking on the ground. Soundtrack was “Weightless” by #MikeOldfield. Nice feeling.

Super proud of the lady who politely asked the guy in front of me to stop filming the concert because shining a bright light at all the people behind you is really obnoxious. My shy retiring British self was just grumbling and giving him the evil eye.

Anyway, concert was amazing, highly recommended for any Mike Oldfield superfans like me!
