  5. New on our blog!

    Subsidiary Protection and Climate Refugees

The International Organization for Migration reports that, over recent decades, 218.6 million people have been internally displaced due to climate change, and some projections estimate that up to 1.2 billion people could become “climate refugees” by 2050.

Yet, there is no consensus on the definition of

  6. This absurdity of justice is delivered in the EU which is, supposedly, based on the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights. A very depressing but must-read article

  8. This article should also be part of the series 'The Lawlessness Law'. An excellent overview of the shape the proposal for an Asylum and Migration Management Regulation is taking by, practically, legalizing illegal practices to the detriment of international law and human rights

  9. Very powerful commentary last week by Maximilian Steinbeis, which adds another brick in the wall of rule of law violations in the EU, the migration and asylum dimension. Difficult not to note that populism is driving rule of law breaches

  10. I just heard someone from the UNHCR Ireland office say on RTÉ say that everyone can be an asylum seeker, but not everyone could be a refugee. My migration law classes are long behind me, but am I misremembering that if you leave your country in fear of your life, you are, without doubt, a refugee? #refugees #unhcr #ireland #migrationlaw

The #studentVisa wrought goes against that alone. We don't know what is put on the papers, #Australia has #economicMigrants from many places.

    There's also #migrantWashing, and the #migrationLaw and #refugeeProducer complex.

What we call for are sensible levels. Bad actors constantly lobby #politicians for more #foreignWorkers to work in industries many of which are unethical but even ethical businesses are undeserved if we instead choose to pump #assetBubbles over nurturing them.
