just #migrated #mastodon accounts as the old instance was pretty much dead and unmoderated, which meant it was starting to get blocked by the rest of the #fediverse

I might spend the weekend reposting some old stuff (30+ days) just so it's not empty here in this new social media one bedroom apartment.

Hello! #Introduction update: Dec 2023 marks 1 year since I #migrated to #Mastodon. I've learned a lot about this site & it's very cool.

#twitter OTOH much less cool now but the past decade I'd been tweet-reporting on local gov #transportation politics from a #bus, bike lane & #sidewalk POV. Years prior, I did a #journalism internship at Beaverton Valley Times.

I'll always wonder: where would I be today if I'd taken that job reporting on Sherwood City Hall, instead of going for a poetry degree?

I'm not quite ready for the official "introduction" toot, but wanted to first mention that I #migrated from mas.to today. I spent a few weeks looking for the best instance and am happy to have landed here. Ready to make the bird site a thing of the past and promote #fediverse systems.

Just realised, my first automatic port of call this morning was mastodon. So please as it means I'm settling in. I check out the BirdSite but am not using it it much at all. I decided, that since I couldn't take all my stuff when I left the country, the most important is connections with friends that I saved. There's same thing. And it's kinda soothes.

Further notes on having just #migrated from another instance: rather annoyed to have all my old posts and boosts stuck over there. I knew that would be the case, but now I'm sad to see an empty timeline here

I’m a #cataloging and #TechnicalServices librarian at a small #LiberalArts #college in #Louisiana. I am married to a now retired USAF guy and have two teen daughters who are pretty terrific (if I do say so myself). Also residing in the house are 3 cats who are usually plotting the demise of my dog.
