But listen to David Yambio, speaking about the applicant’s reality in FM v. Frontex and about his own experience of being pulled back to Libya:

'Frontex officers or the Executive Director saying, "We are very committed to save lives." The applicant right now. How much of his life is being saved by Frontex? When I was 5 times pulled on the Central Mediterranean as a result of Frontex Aerial Surveillance and taken back tortured, enslaved, recruited to the frontline. How much of that was saving my life?'

David was speaking at our event, organised by Front-LEX, Sea-Watch and Refugees in Libya, focusing on FM v. Frontex, the case challenging Frontex’s role in enabling the interception and pullback of people to Libya through its aerial surveillance, currently pending before the European Court of Justice."

I spoke with farm workers, healthcare workers and construction workers facing low pay, poor housing and uncertainty about whether they can stay.

As governments use more AI and personal data in immigration decisions, surveillance adds another layer of power over their lives.

Immigration makes us stronger. The people building this country deserve fair pay, stability and dignity.
