Today closes a significant chapter in my life. Since the fall of 2021, my work has required a lot of travel throughout the #midwestUSA . My truck and I spent thousands of miles a week being road warriors. Hotel stays throughout the week was a way of life for me. Today was my last typical roll out as I now am joining the team of desk jockeys.
That old way of life had its perks. Exploring other places. Groovy restaurants and breweries. Hotel points. Unaccountable time. Quiet, reflective drives. Loud blaring playlists.
It also had it's trials. A phase of loneliness. Weight gain. Chaotic schedule. Not always available for the family in urgent or emergency situations.
Overall, I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my life and in my career.

The Demon Hunter show was so good last night. I was less than 30 feet from the stage. Lots of metal core screaming. I felt like I fit in with this group of misfit christians. All 4 bands that played were christian and made a point to make that evident between a few songs.

✅ I've added more insulation around water pipes in the basement to prevent freezing and breaking.
✅ I've got all the Christmas decorations down and out of the upcoming weather.
✅ I've found the ice melt and pulled out the snow shovels. Went out and bought some extra ice melt.
✅ I've ensured each vehicle has an ice scraper and brush. Each vehicle has a jump start battery pack.
✅ I've picked up a 15pk of Blue Moon and 4pk of City Wide Pale Ale from 4Hands Brewery. Also, verified I have plenty of coffee in the pantry.
I think I'm prepared for the snow and ice that's coming.
Good luck everyone. If I lose power for a long period of time, this server will go down until power is restored.

A friend wants a Windows Surface. I have multiple Surfaces in my house. One is no longer needed.
From left to right
Left. My son's Surface 3 running Windows 10, but hasn't been touched in almost a year.
Center. My Surface Go 3 running Fedora.
Right. My wife's Surface Go 3 running Windows 10.
I'm giving up my Surface Go to sell (the middle screen) but I have to reinstall Windows 10. So, I'm creating a USB Fedora live boot drive that I'll use to install on my son's Surface 3.
My Surface Go 3 will get a new copy of Windows that I'll sell to my friend.
I'm using my wife's Surface to create a Windows recovery drive.
An Oktoberfest from Confluence Brewing, Des Moines, IA is good company. 🍻
