  1. So tired of seeing backwards text in videos taken with selfie cameras. This is such an easy fix, do phone manufacturers just not care?? — #microblogging #MicroToot: 135 characters

  2. I really want a little dummy terminal on my desk, hooked up to my computer, with tmux or something running on it. That would rock. XD — #microblogging #MicroToot: 133 characters

  3. ...my silly butt tapping on Avoid Ferries in the navigation options just in case, even though there isn't a single ferry for 100s of miles. — #microblogging #MicroToot: 139 characters

  10. @RandamuMaki

I'm sorry you feel that way, and I don't think you're understanding the motivation behind the post, although I will admit it was rather ranty. I'll readily admit that that is a flaw of mine.

I'm already on a server that allows 5,000 character toots, and I love it. And I interact with people on all kinds of servers, including vanilla mastodon, vanilla mastodon with hand-coded longer post limits, hometown, glitch, GoToSocial, snac, and all the *omas and *keys.

My annoyance is that I feel that the limit is artifically hampering the ability for people to share online. A short limit is a valid artistic constraint for some types of expression, and I myself use the #MicroToot hashtag on some of my posts to indicate when I'm limiting myself to 140 characters (because I was a fairly early adopter of Twitter back in the day).

But I don't feel that it's a valid limit to put on all types of posts, and I still think it's unfortunate that the most prevalent type of server on the fediverse has those kinds of limits, because I don't feel that it's a good influence on the fediverse overall.

I'll leave it at that. Cheers.
