New #Superlist version 1.7 is out. Now supports natural language processing - "get milk and eggs tomorrow at 2pm" translates the text into a working due date and time. IMO that's a fantastic feature but it's sadly not present in most task apps. #MicrosoftTodo, #TickTick and #Ora.PM have it. It's phenomenally useful for quick task entry when you need a reminder.
Shame that there isn't a #Windows desktop client for Superlist (yet). But the web version works fine.
-
You've probably seen posts joking about programming errors making things go sideways on 2/29—this is not just a joke. Microsoft To Do scans task titles for clues to due dates and reminder times. This is what happened when I dated a task for today.

@kopio Neither because neither are task managers. Both are fine for laying out project steps (I prefer Obsidian personally), but for task management, a dedicated task app like #AppleReminders, #Todoisf, or #MicrosoftToDo will work much better.

WHAT THE FUCK, MICROSOFT?!
The number-one thing I liked about Microsoft To Do was list sharing; up until yesterday, you could share lists from a Personal Account to a Work or School Account—meaning I could own all my personal tasks, keep all of my work tasks in my employer's tenant, and STILL SEE THEM ALL IN ONE PLACE.
This worked until this morning. Today, all of my personal lists are gone, and when I tried to re-share, I got this bullshit.

Cleaned out one of my main work-related lists in Microsoft To Do this morning. Went from 42 open items down to twelve.
Among the 30 that went away: I completed one, and the rest were split nearly evenly among stuff I had already done but hadn’t marked off, stuff that had been mooted, and stuff that I just decided to dump.
Feels great, and now I feel energized about knocking a couple more off today…

Two weeks after I complained about it here, this bug may now be fixed! I checked off a recurring task first thing this morning, and it behaved correctly.
#MicrosoftToDo -
My to do list emoji game is as strong as ever today.
-
Maybe someone does want recurring tasks to disappear when complete—maybe they use recurring tasks for routine chores reminders, like "take out the trash," but don't think of them as "part of my list."
And maybe someone does want to see the next occurrence when the current one is done—"As soon as I finish this, I'll get a jump on the next one!"
But these cases are contradictory. You can't get a jump on next week's trash as soon as this week's is out.
-
To do lists and task tracking are very personal, so I know I'm on thin ice when I assert something is the "wrong" way to do it, but the way Microsoft To Do handles recurring tasks is 100% wrong.
The completed task list SHOULD include completed recurring tasks from today as well as one-time tasks, and it SHOULD NOT automatically add the next iteration of a task when the current one is checked off. This is what most users will expect.
-
Annoying and long-standing bug in Microsoft To Do: if you add a recurring task to your "Today" list, when you check it off as done, it momentarily drops down to the "completed" section of the list, then disappears. The next iteration of the task appears on your today view, uncompleted, in the list of unfinished items.
It has been this way for over a year, so someone at Microsoft might think this is the correct behavior for a recurring task. It is not.

Anyone spend more time organising/tweaking/personalising their #notetaking system & wonder if it's bordering on #procrastination ?
I use #obsidian for #notes but most importantly #tasks & #taskmanagement and currently have the #todoist plugin which activates an #IFTTT automation to email my work address, which triggers adding my task to #MicrosoftToDo as there's so much security around that app & no plugin.
But my organisation of daily notes is a mess & I know I could make better use of templates & #dataviewThere's just so much that can be done in #ObsidianMD ! ❤️

CW: Productivity post
I've been a hard core user of #MicrosoftToDo at work, and #GoogleTasks personally, but I'm moving across to #Obsidian for work of late.
It's a great tool, but it's so easy to get caught up in fiddling with things; my #adhd and #Melancholy nature at work for sure.
I've been in an unproductive slump lately, so it's helping me to empty my head to get clarity.
"How good are Systems" 😀 👍
