  1. Okay so I'm looking at getting back into #UX design and I found this UX Career Roadmap and of course its a lead capture which is fine but it had this question on the form “What stage are you at in your career?” which is great but the options are “Climber, Switcher, Launcher” and I feel like this is not good #microcopy because I had to stop and be like “uh what?” and I selected climber but maybe I’m actually switcher? Or am I launcher? I don’t know what these mean.

  3. I contributed one prominent sentence of #microcopy (user-interface text) to Vivaldi 6.0. 📢 I’ve seen it repeated by people and the media all across the web when discussing the release. It put a positive spin on a new feature, and it’s been fun seeing it resonate with people. #VivaldiBrowser #UX

  5. Any good 📚 #BookRecommendations on writing effective and concise #MicroCopy for User Interfaces? (E.g. button labels and dialog text.) I’m a bit rusty. #UserExperienceDesign #UX

  6. Clever feature of @artifact_news that hides news sources for which you've run out of free articles.

    Take that, #paywalls!

(It also supports identifying and prioritizing sources to which you've subscribed.)

  10. I always find the microcopy on the Overcast app absolutely delightful. It’s one of the few apps that’s cheeky and clever in just the right doses. Hats off to @marcoarment ! (Oh, and it’s a lot better than that other podcast app.) #microcopy #contentdesign #overcast

  12. Does one administer a server, or does one administrate a server?

Administer is older and more popular, but can be confused with, e.g., adminstering a medicine. Administer a server = giving a server to someone??

Administrate is not exactly new (been around since 17th century) and is less ambiguous, but always sounds/reads a bit like an error.

Objectively, I want to err with clarity over tradition. But I don't know. Thoughts?

  14. Question for the #ContentDesign and #UXContent #UXWriting folks—

When working with #microcopy for an interface or website, how do you collaborate with developers or designers? Where do you keep the strings of text so that it’s clear what each one is for without bogging it down?

Longer content is a bit easier in some ways, but how do you manage microcopy?

  18. Say hello to the new old instrument I inherited from another working group. It is a 3D laser scanning #microscope, e.g. you can analyse your sample using light #microcopy and in addition measure the topography using an UV laser. And it can measure the film thickness of transparent films. This will be so useful to pre-check #AFM samples for roughness 🥰
