Twisting my brain into a knot trying to understand the new #GPSR rules. As a tiny business of one I don't really have the funds to employ someone in the EU as my representative. So currently I got to stop selling to Northern Ireland and the EU, until I figure out what to do and how to do it.
Its a pain, but everything sorts itself out, eventually. If you have any good links or tips, feel free to post them here! -
I've been having deep sad thoughts about being a business failure. Some people manage to amass huge followings and thus success with their products without really trying or even having a good product.
I'm super proud of what I make (clothes and accessories) and how I make it (salvaged fabrics, made ethically in sizes 8-32.) It just involves a lot of education and self promotion that I have little energy for after doing all the making of the things. I don't even think educating people on why they should spend more money on less clothing is very effective! After doing this for a couple of years I am coming to the conclusion that my demographic is financially comfortable people aged 25-55 with a punk aesthetic. It's not a huge demo!
If I had the energy and the resources I could take photos of people modelling my products! It just takes a lot of spoons that chronic illness robs from me.
I am a maker, I was born to make stuff for people - I don't want to make things that have a negative effect on people and planet. My brain threatens to give everything up but I know I wouldn't, I just keep finding a way to persevere.

I've managed to come across these glorious brown knits for the most unhinged brown tee ever but I don't know what size to make it in!! I might even be about to eke two tees out of it?
I'm doing an epic cutting session over the next few days so I can restock my physical and online stock. I've also got to make some sunhats, two for a fellow vollie and more as general stock. As we come into summer I'm hoping my hats will fare well. (The trippy print sunhat sold quickly! I wish I had more of that fabric but it was literally a scrap from a cut up garment.)
Mama needs to make some money because things are grim 😅

I updated my shop the other day and forgot to tell you, I guess that's why I'm bad at making sales 🤣
All of my products are made from trash. I mean, they were headed for landfill but have instead been diverted and turned into useful and beautiful things!

This last weekish has been A LOT and VERY EXPENSIVE. 😩
We are a week away from officially opening the new store, but there's a preview event on Sunday. I have so many things to do that I frequently realise I've forgotten to breathe. Real life administration has been absolutely foregone.
I spray painted my pegboard with a stencil; rolling many many fabrics on boards; planning food and activities for the preview event; planning my own products and laying out my space on the handmade wall; ferrying stuff to and from the old shop to the new shop; stocking all that stuff; and having exhausted break downs...
I've had to take out insurance, renew my business name because it inconveniently retired this week, then Nick got a speeding fine and I dropped my phone yesterday, smashing the screen.
I was so distracted I put down my phone halfway through typing this, updated my task list and had a shower. Where I broke a hand mirror.
So what I'm saying is, I need a holiday or some incredible sales. 😭

In my quest to take decent photos of my products I have started using my old Actual Camera (Canon sx730 hs) again but EVERY PHOTO is blurry and it's honestly going to drive me to insanity.
These photos aren't so bad but when you zoom in you can see they aren't quite in focus. Product photos are my perpetual weakness and I wish I could afford to get a photographer to do this!

"What’s the best side hustle to hop on in 2023 ?"
This is from the Very Busy and Important Boss Babe Business Women group I'm in. Everyone is posting about their affiliate and MLM "businesses" and here I am sourcing salvaged textiles, cutting and sewing clothing, hats and bags, and selling them all in my online shop like an absolute dummy.

I have sewn the everything. It is time to write product descriptions. I don't wanna! Please cross your fingers that people want weird t-shirts.

I am feeling increasingly hopeless about reaching people with my salvaged textiles products and that despairing leads to posting less about what I'm making and so fewer people see the posts and the spiral continues down to the heat death of my motivation.
Idk if this is related to my mood disorder or if I make shit no one wants or maybe a little from column a and a little from column b.

The Peter Max t-shirt is complete! I made it in my size (a 22) because if no one buys it I guess I need to adopt it.

Today I have been making an absurdly time intensive Tshirt that no one will pay proper money for and it's a bit depressing but will I stop making these ridiculous Tshirts? No.
It's inspired by a Peter Max umbrella.

I made another grocery bag tonight and took a cute turn. Taking product photos is The Worst, I have no idea how to make my stuff look like it's worth the amount of labour I put into it!

Someone needs to come over and stand over me and make me do some t-shirt sewing. Or t-shirt photo taking and product listing.
