  1. The unmistakable roar of a snow blower is basically Michigan’s unofficial winter alarm clock. You hear the neighbor clearing surprise overnight snow, and suddenly your morning plans shift to “go shovel now.”
When that sound shows up before dawn in October—or refuses to leave by April—it sparks a little panic. Winter keeps its own schedule here.

Hearing it on an 85‑degree day? Doesn’t count.

Glad Dad’s snow blower will still be in action with the neighbor. Dad always preferred snow blowing over mowing. Pure Michigan.

  2. Today’s small moment - driving across the Mackinac Bridge in early January a couple years ago. Even with voice control, I didn’t get many photos as it required more concentration as the bridge deck was slick and snow covered. Winds were brisk. The view was incredible. It’s occurred to me that I wouldn’t mind being an escort driver for folks who don’t like driving across the bridge.
