Our NGO is excited to be a member of Project Tidal.

This NIH-funded project is training early-career researchers in the use of big data analytics and digital health tools to prevent intimate partner violence (IPV) among pregnant / post-partum women.

The inaugural cohort are at Emory this week for in-person training. Yesterday, I was honored to teach them about theory and application of digital health games for violence prevention.

It's very encouraging to talk with these bright and enthusiastic researchers about ways technology can be used to prevent violence!

I'm pleased to share our new paper "Digital Phenotyping of Social Functioning and Employment in People with Schizophrenia: Pilot Data from an International Sample” developed by @ErlendLane, @LucyGray, myself, @DilipJeste, and @JohnTorous. Employing a sample of 62 individuals with #schizophrenia, our study provides preliminary support for the use of #smartphone-based #digitalphenotyping to index #socialfunctioning and #employment in this population.

i’ve found empathy crucial in my work helping abuse victims & in deradicalization and in #mHealth.

That’s why I end that personalized mantra with “One does what one can.”

Today I have a lot on my plate. Doc appointment, two phone meetings, some tasks for two orgs I help at high levels.

I’m also dealing with the aftermath of a brutal flashback and the reason for the doc appointment, recovery from ankle surgery, makes walking challenging some days.

Then there’s the random annoyances of life that hit harder when one’s #mHealth is more fragile.

But I know I’ll be ok.

Tide rolls in, tide rolls out.

Morning, call from someone saying they can’t help me in my situation.

Afternoon, email from someone saying they can.

Morning, panic.

Afternoon…. ok so not quite calm but at least not as panicked.

Morning, I was so distraught I wrote out my feelings using a grounding technique called The Three Word Exercise. Had 27 items at the end, mostly negative.

Afternoon, 10 items, neutral on the whole.

Still anxious, but change can be like that.

Welp, today was some unwelcome news.

Increasingly it’s looking like I’m not going be able to go back to the company that I had an on the job injury with.

I am somewhat anxious over what my next steps will be looking like.

On the upside, helped someone that asked for help get started down the #derad path earlier today and incidentally helped me with a couple #mHealth issues in my own skull.

Helping others helps oneself.

Today was a #mHealth struggle.

But.

I did my best today.

I will do my best tomorrow.
