I don’t know when the #mta #metronorth switched mascots from robocop to a dog but I’m for it.

Transferred to a local and these newer trains have full motion video ads. Fortunately our trains are older and don’t have these abhorrent displays for now.
If I rode these trains on the regular, I’d travel with precut rolls of black shelf paper.
Also, my iPod just shit the bed. I hate leaving the house.

The noise canceling headphones just can’t keep up, and nothing’s gonna help with the the stench of cologne. -
It's about that time of year.... has anybody seen Metro-North's LASER TRAIN out yet?
It uses lasers to zap leaves off the rails! That helps prevent sliding or braking issues for the trains, especially in wet weather.
It will be positioned behind an engine like in the photo and just running as part of the regular commuter fleet.

Gotta go see, it's been 2 yrs! Grand Central Terminal has been transformed into a station again, basically. New lowest level (for LIRR) has trains which pass through. Outside of Amtrak trains 71-91, all train lines started or terminated there, hence the name. *Grand Central Madison* [Station]; link is to art installations there.

Got invited to this Riverkeeper meeting in Ossining. Planning to take the Hudson line and then either walk or bike the Old Croton Aqueduct from a little out from the Ossining #MetroNorth station. #OpenStreetMap says the path surface is dirt. The meeting is April 25 so it could be muddy.. #GoogleMaps is totally useless. If a car can't drive it, they don't fucking care and the path may as well not exist. With OpenStreetMaps I can make a notation as to condition.

Would anyone happen to know why #MetroNorth uses seven-car trains in the diesel territory to Poughkeepsie? From what I understand, all the platforms north of Croton-Harmon are six cars long. (With the two tiny stations as exceptions, of course.)
Also, does anyone know how many cars are typically used on the other diesel branches? It looks like platforms north of Southeast are mostly four cars long, while the Danbury branch has a mixture of lengths and the Waterbury branch has *tiny* platforms.

#NYC subway hot take: the A train should be extended to #Fordham.
There are already tracks under 207 St to access the yard, and those could be extended under Fordham Road, connecting to the 1, 4, and D trains and all three #MetroNorth lines.
Some justifications:
- follows the route of the high-ridership Bx12 select bus
- finally offers a direct connection between Washington Heights and the Bronx
- would have made it *way* easier for me to get to the Fordham Metro-North station this morning -
On this day in 2012, I travelled from New York City to Boston 🇺🇲
I started out at Grand Central Terminal, where I boarded a Metro North train to New Haven, CT. At New Haven, I just had time to admire the Solari Board, before catching an Acela train to Providence, RI.
From Providence, I caught a very purple MBTA Commuter service to Boston South station.
Yes, I could have done the journey on one Amtrak train, but why catch just one train when you can catch three?

Seriously, though—for #NYC folks (and Long Islanders) who’ve never ridden #MetroNorth, do it. It’s all too easy to fall into the mental trap of “but I already have everything I want here in the city”. No, you don’t. This isn’t comparable to a walk in Central Park. Get out here and breathe.
The Hudson Line is definitely the best of the three (although the other two are still *excellent*), and I’d recommend #Ossining as a great destination for a first trip. (And the Haverstraw ferry if you can!)
