  1. Although the visualizer is still a bit rough, I've put together an index page where you can now download maps/stats, but also go straight to visualizations of exploration traces for the games I've been mapping (mostly Metroidvanias). The visualizer doesn't show multiple links or complex requirements well yet, and layouts are a challenge. But you can click around and see stuff, and the CSV files have interesting stats now (just submitted a paper for EXAG 2026 talking about metrics for discrete exploration games).

  3. #HotTake on #VideoGames: I agree that we should stop calling #AdventureGames that lean heavily into their ability-gaining elements #Metroidvania games. The name implies similarities to #Metroid and #Castlevania that might not be there, and also that they invented elements which were also in the original #Zelda, #Adventure, and many other 80s adventure games.

Generally speaking, gaining abilities to access new areas is one of those true-to-life elements. It'd be like calling every arcade racing game an "F-Zero clone" or every First Person Shooter a "Doom Clone" when even Wolfenstein was far from the original FPS.

  8. Going back to Mount Fay to face against this boss from Act 3!

I also unlocked the progress percentage and I'm at 80% so far!

  9. Everything should be ready for me to finally go for Act 3 on , including a new weapon upgrade and some finished courier deliveries!

  10. In the Castlevania universe gorgons look like cows, so does that mean they can be milked? Or do you just get Gorgonzola instead? Does Dracula have a farm of these somewhere outside the castle?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.
