  1. Missed this when it came out last year: state of the field reflections on #STS vis a vis #WeDoSTS and #MeTooSTS by @i_ngli

No time like the present for a reminder and I wonder if we will see more #STSHub formation?

  2. One for @sts re #STS #WeDoSTS critical and reflexive analyses of the institutionalised processes and their effects within our field - power abuse, #MeTooSTS and debate at #easst4s24 #easst24 #4s2024 #EASST4S2024

  3. Just read an inspiring letter asking how we make #WeDoSTS visible at #EASST4S24 #easst2024 #4s2024. Any ideas, dear @sts friends? Stickers, postcards, t-shirts? How can #STS be supported in engaging with #WeDoSTS and #MeTooSTS?

  4. 📢 The best practices working group of stsing e.V. is launching a collaboration with the Network on Power Abuse in Science to continue and broaden the conversation begun under the #MeTooSTS and #WeDoSTS. 💪

You can find more info on the collaboration, the Network, and submission guidelines here: stsing.org/keep-the-metoosts-w

  5. CW: #WeDoSTS #STS #STSING

Very impressed that a total of 18 STS scholars showed up to our working group's impromptu virtual meeting to discuss future action within @stsing and beyond against harassment and power abuse in STS in Germany! #MeTooSTS and #WeDoSTS

Also, many thanks to @janalasser for sharing your expertise as founding member of the network against power abuse in science!

  6. CW: #MeTooSTS in Germany and call for action

    @i_ngli

I discussed #MeTooSTS at lenght with a non STS-related senior researcher and their point was that a lot has to do with prevention and senior scholars in power actively and continuously sensitizing themselves regarding power imbalances and intersectionality. 1/3

  7. The #MeTooSTS #WeDoSTS coincidentally happened at the same time as we started a reading group on Sara Ahmed's recent book "Complaint!" to also discuss how this applies to our own institute and what to do better. The book is on how complaints in academic institutions are made and unmade, amplifying the voices of complainers and complain collectives, and it couldn't be a better time to engage this work!

  8. CW: #MeTooSTS in Germany and call for action

We also invite all STS researchers to join the next workshop about "Circulations of STS research(ers) and good academic research practice and working conditions" during the sts-hub in March 2023 which will be followed by a discussion with researchers, experts and activists."

  9. CW: #MeTooSTS in Germany and call for action

We as members of the board and the Best Practice group of stsing e.V. have published a statement and call for action in response to the accounts by Claudia Schwarz-Plaschg and Lee Vinsel: stsing.org/abuses-of-power-met

  10. CW: #MeTooSTS and responsibility within the community

@i_ngli I think to make this searchable across platforms the # may have to bi in the text, not the CW. Anyways, people, if you are interested in #MeTooSTS #metooSTS and potential consequences for the STS-Hub in Germany, this way.

  11. ‘What has struck me…is how many senior academics present themselves as powerless.’ Thoughtful reflections by @WarrenPearce on #MeTooSTS & what happens next socstudiesresearch.com/2022/11 #WeDoSTS

  12. CW: Reposting from Twitter bothers me but I keep doing it

Well, I increasingly understand why people are annoyed by birdsite content. It's like not respecting Mastodon.

Yet I feel that lots of stuff is microblogging content worth sharing. This is why, for example, I RT some of the #MeTooSTS stuff that has not migrated from Twitter. I hope to log out from the cross-posting soon though.

  13. CW: toxic practice in #STS

on the teaching platform for said #STS course I noted today in a forum discussion

"Given that I mention here again #SheilaJasanoff's work, given contemporary discussions in the public sphere, I like to ensure you also recognise the critical way her work practice is currently negotiated and problematised, with descriptions of toxic and marginalising relations [in] Jasanoff's programme of STS at Harvard (see Claudia Schwarz-Plaschg's and Lee Vinsel's accounts)." #MeTooSTS

  14. CW: Reading #MeTooSTS

Unfortunately not surprised but still incredibly disappointed while reading #MeTooSTS experiences.

Reflecting on Lee Vinsel's piece I wonder for how long can academia sustain these cult-like models.
