    Schon seit 1977 sind Satelliten mit dem Namen #Meteosat im All. Derzeit läuft die Umstellung auf die dritte Generation. Hierfür kommen zwei verschiedene Satellitentypen zum Einsatz: "Imager" MTG-I und "Sounder" MTG-S. Der erste Imager ist bereits im All, der erste Sounder soll im Juli 2025 folgen.

  10. Du troede måske at de satellitbilleder fra Meteosat, som man kan se på DMI's hjemmeside var pæne og detaljerede, og gav et godt overblik over lavtryk, fronter mm. Men så bare vent til du får prøvet Eumetsats service med adgang til billeddata i næsten-realtid, hvorfra det er muligt at lave egne udsnit - som det her vedhæftede med et markant lavtryk. #Eumetsat #Meteosat

  15. Did you know that the sea surface temperature #SST measured by satellite 🛰 is changing over the day ? Satellite measure the temperature from the first millimeters, which is warming up with the sun during the day.

    The geostationnary satellites allows to follow this changes. Check these animation done with #meteosat second generation (up) and third generation (down) currently both orbiting at 0°

  27. @DeutscherWetterdienst #Meteosat-10 muss seinen Nachfolger (Meteosat-11) ablösen und zurück auf die ursprüngliche Position, weil der Nachfolger des Nachfolgers (Meteosat-12) nicht rechtzeitig im Orbit ist und sonst kein Backup mehr zur Verfügung steht? Dann viel Erfolg, dass beim Manöver nichts schief läuft, dass #Wetter (und #Weltraumwetter) ruhig bleibt und dass die nächste Generation rechtzeitig im Orbit ist, um ein ähnliches Manöver für Meteosat-11 zu vermeiden.
