  7. @jonty For me, this articles contains two new ideas: metasurfaces (about which I did not know before), and knitting them.

    A Christmas jumper made of this material would however not keep you warm, I think. Ordinary wool would be better. But I like that pattern too.

    If that jumper would be produced, the next radio engineer's conference would be a stunning sight!

  9. Yesterday we finished a fantastic 3-day workshop with our friends from Ottawa. This was the 2023 annual meeting of the Max Planck - uOttawa Centre for Extreme and Quantum Photonics, at the @MPI_ScienceOfLight .

    We heard about #topological #photonics, #metasurfaces, #entanglement, #ultrafast laser pulses, solar #lasers, #neuromorphic computing, #Artificialntelligence for optics and many more exciting topics at the cutting edge of photonics.

    #Chirality of #BioMolecules (left/right-handedness) is central to life. Light can be chiral too, a tool to interact with them. Light can also excite spins in #2dSemiconductors and rotate objects. #Nanophotonics can enhance these very weak effects. We surprisingly found that different phenomena, all relying on chirality of light, are incompatible! And found design rules for #metasurfaces for enhancing different chiral interactions (led by @albertogcurto).
