Great movie openings: #MessiahOfEvil. The guy running from unseen dangers. Seemingly finding shelter. The flickering lights. Symbolically sphlashing life giving water on his face. Only to meet his end. Unable to defend himself ability, physically or mentally. All that accompanied by something which conposition-wise sounds like a love song, but if you listen to the lyrics, it actually foreshadows all the darkness which is going to be this movie.

Remembering Royal (Edward) Dano (1922-1994), the great American character actor, born in Santa Monica #onthisday, 100 years ago. An often imposing presence in almost 200 films and TV shows, and a regular in westerns (notably #JohnnyGuitar, 1954), his memorable genre roles included as the reclusive painter in #MessiahofEvil (1973) and Tom Fury in #SomethingWickedThisWayComes (1983). Among his final appearances was as Judge Sternwood in #TwinPeaks (1990).
