  1. Asbestos poisoning. I thought I was pretty safe. NO--it's still happening everywhere. It's a horrible problem.

This is a VERY important video. Everyone should know--and CARE. Public and political pressures should be increasing--they're diminishing.

  2. @luckytran #Cancer is miserable, any type, any stage. #Mesothelioma, the cancer most specifically associated with #asbestos is an especially cruel, difficult to treat disease. Asbestos is also associated with deadly #lungcancer We must not lose ground on asbestos regulation.

  3. MAGA = Make Asbestos Great Again?

“ Trump's support for asbestos has been welcomed in Russia, a primary asbestos supplier to the US. In 2018, a Russian asbestos company began marketing asbestos with Trump's face and a seal reading "Approved by Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States."

  5. Talc is a common ingredient in personal care products, not just baby powder but also cosmetics. Talc is a mined mineral and sadly often contains traces of asbestos - which causes cancer and lung disease. There is testing, but cosmetics companies have often used an insensitive method. Mesothelioma is a horrible price to pay for using makeup.

While working as a structural engineer on a building site there were many occasions when I spoke to guys for not wearing masks, eye and ear protection.

In particular masks when cutting stone or concrete.

Sad to say, in the majority of cases young guys thought it somehow macho and cool to avoid wearing any protection.

Such smokers too. Saw many apprentices fresh out in the workforce who couldn’t wait to become accomplished smokers.

  9. Since 2017, 147 #Education & #Healthcare workers have died from #mesothelioma (caused by #asbestos):

what this tells us is that the defunding of these sectors, robbing maintenance budgets to keep things going, is having a fatal impact on the sectors' #workers.

Failure to remove asbestos from #schools & #hospitals is killing the staff.

not only won't the #Tories pay health/teaching staff properly they've engineered a situation that kills them at work.

Asbestos is still used commercially in brake pads, automobile clutches, roofing materials, vinyl tile, and imported cement pipe and corrugated sheeting.

Most of the rest of the world manage just fine wih a ban on asbestos use but its too "burdensome" for the US
