Quordle is a Wordle-style game where players guess four five-letter words at once in nine tries. Each guess applies to all four words, with color clues like green (right spot), yellow (wrong spot), and gray (not in word). Created by Freddie Meyer in 2022 and later acquired by Merriam-Webster, today’s answers were CROOK, EXACT, INDEX, and PRIDE.

Learned that Shrey Parikh, a contestant in the #Scripps National #SpellingBee got eliminated because he incorrectly spelled “kanin”, which comes from #Tagalog and means “boiled rice”.
I saw that “kanin“ is indeed included in the #MerriamWebster #dictionary. But as a native Tagalog speaker, I‘m offended that they say that the plural is “kanins“. Even granting that kanin is a valid English word, I say that just like “rice” and also in Tagalog, it should be an uncountable noun.

Very interesting: The #AntiDefamationLeague has adopted the spelling of #antisemitism instead of anti-Semitism.
#MerriamWebster lists this term with the hyphen first, so that's what I'd ordinarily use. But the reasoning for the no-hyphen version is compelling. Read about it at the link.
Basically, "Semitism" is not a thing. It's a dog whistle. Capitalizing it legitimizes it; lower-casing it indicates that the concept itself was never valid.
