Bei meinem Lauf in Barfussschuhen letzten Sonntag bin ich mehrmals mit dem linken Vorderfuss auf kleinere Steine getreten.
Das wurde zum Ende hin richtig unangenehm 😬
Eigentlich dachte ich, dass sich der Fuss innerhalb von einer Woche wieder beruhigt hat. Hat er aber nicht ☹️
Und so werde ich morgen anstatt in Merrell-Barfussschuhen zum ersten Mal in meinen neuen Brooks laufen 🤗

Ich hab mich getraut und bin 12K in Barfussschuhen gelaufen 🏃🏻‍♂️🥳
Scheinbar zahlt sich mein ergänzendes Crosstraining aus, denn meine Beine haben das problemlos mitgemacht 👍
Nur die kleinen Steine auf dem Waldboden waren aufgrund der fehlenden Schuhdämpfung etwas unangenehm 😬
Ansonsten ... gerne wieder 🤗🤗

Nach den vielen langen Läufen 🏃🏻‍♂️ in den letzten Wochen ist mein Akku derzeit ziemlich leer 😬
Deshalb werde ich in den nächsten Tagen nur noch bis max. 10K laufen. Und das bevorzugt in Barfussschuhen und Fivefingers-Socken. So wie heute 🙂👍

Meine zweite #SlowJogging-Session - diesmal mit 10.150 Schritten (optimal sind 10.800) - brachte mir die Erkenntnis, dass diese Form des Laufens 🏃‍♂️ perfekt in meinen Traingsplan passt 👍
Nach der Stunde in normalen Laufschuhen bin ich dann noch erstmalig für 20 Minuten in Barfussschuhen (Merrell Vapor Glove 6) gelaufen. War auch ein sehr schönes Lauferlebnis, was ich nicht zum letzten gemacht habe 🙂

Crazy Costco Buys " I wear Merrell Moab 3 regular and mid boots. Typically the waterproof ones can be had for about $100-120 (normally 150) US on sale. SoCal Costco had them for $45 a pair (I bought 4) #merrell #shoes #boots #Costco

Having done some reading into some shoes today and having a look what's on offer at two retailers, I think I am going to try out the following low cut trail shoes:

- Merrell Moab3 GTX: I already have the same model, but a mid model, so I am well aware of the comfort of the shoe. It has a TC5+ Vibram sole, which strangely is not listed on Vibram's website.

- La Sportiva TX5 GTX: A low cut shoe with a leather upper and a Vibram Megagrip sole.

- La Sportiva Spire GTX: Really like the looks of this one and it comes with a Vibram XS Trek sole.

As far as the La Sportiva shoes are concerned, I need to ensure that they do fit my feet as most Italian brands don't.

I also opting only to fit models that have VIbram soles. I might be sacrificing some flexibility for durability.

My main application are mountain day hikes, not necessarily on paths, crossing rocky terrain. When solo, I tend to go fast downhill. Shoes need to cope.

After many years of service and numerous adventures my faithful pair of #merrell slip ons are being retired. I think though I'm going to have to give them a proper send off in a manner befitting rather than just tossing them in the bin

My 20 year old #merrell sandals died on my walk this morning. I've a 5 year old pair of #teva sandals but the sole on them is wearing much faster. The Merrell's are better in town and for general use...

More shopping I fear. I looked at repairing them, but I'd need to destructively separate the out and in sole to reattach the strap...

The Salomon X-Ultra 4 GTX, lightweight & agile, has been my go-to for some years, but the sole durability is disappointing. Given the amount of sand & boulders on the FRC, I have opted to go with Merrell Moab 3 Mid GTX instead. I am hoping that the higher cut combined with lightweight gaiters will do a good job of keeping sand out and the soles should cope with the abrasive boulders.

We hardly ever hear positive #CustomerService stories, so I am sharing one about #Merrell. I bought a pair of waterproof hiking boots from them. They are lovely boots and have a nice wide toe box which I need and which is hard to find. The waterproofing was not very effective so I reached out to Customer Support by phone. They answered the phone (!) and upgraded my boots to the GoreTex model at no cost. Incredible customer service. Yay.

RIP Merrell😑! 18+ yrs, visitor to many countries, beaches, and participant in many projects. To be fair, it was probably me putting too much strain on them in the end. Purchased for EUR €20. The last rescue attempt will be made with nothing less than Super Glue 😃
