    Merle Haggard was born on April 6th, and passed on this day in 2016 at the age of 79. Haggard was a Country outlaw whose Bakersfield sound bled straight into rock ’n’ roll DNA.

    In 1998 Country queen Tammy Wynette passed on April 6th at age 55. Her influence on pop storytelling is still felt in modern country-rock crossovers.
