  1. #RISC_OS: I finally had a bit of time to upload a video with the first system boot into graphic demo for #MerlinOS It works fine on @raspberrypi 2, 3 and 4, but the video is from #QEMU which makes it easy to record both #kernel logs and Pi 2 display. Enjoy!

  3. Using #memory-safe #code eliminates 70 percent of weak points responsible for most serious #cybersecurity breaches. Not by finding bugs faster. (Which #Claude #Mythos does well.) But by making such vulnerabilities structurally impossible.

  4. 🕵️‍♂️ Breaking news: A mysterious "memory-safe" version of C is here to save the day, or at least give us something to chuckle about while we try to remember our passwords. 🤔💾 Who would've thought that "memory-safe" and "C" would be in the same sentence without causing a kernel panic? 😂 #OldDogNewTricks

  8. 🚀🎉 Behold, the latest in tech hipsterism: a "memory-safe" web server written in the *notoriously* obscure #Rust language! 🌱✨ It’s in #beta, naturally, because releasing a completed product would just be too mainstream. 🕶️🔧

  10. "Another problem is that memory-safe languages may introduce performance slowdowns compared to C and C++"

An old myth Granni tells her grandchildren besides the fireplace. Everyone ready to change beliefs given new evidence should read the garbage collection handbook to understand why manual memory management isn't naturally faster.

  12. "Memory safety vulnerabilities remain a pervasive threat to software security. At #Google we believe the path to eliminating this class of vulnerabilities at scale and building high-assurance software lies in Safe Coding, a #SecureByDesign approach that prioritizes transitioning to #memorySafe languages."

  14. A #tale of #maladies installing the #MemorySafe #Rustlang #OperatingSystem #RedoxOS on #video youtube.com/watch?v=I8iC8NVc7q. I'm still not sure why some people will say some #technology is "not ready". All technology needs a little guidance. Some technology needs more than others. :)

  15. Todays release of #PopOS Alpha with #CosmicDesktop has been benchmarked on everybytecounts.org. A gitlab issue is open for #AlpineLinux (gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/). Hopefully this #MemorySafe #DesktopEnvironment might get packaged on a performant #Linux distribution. Maybe #RedoxOS, based on #Rustlang, will also get Cosmic? :)

  16. The #OperatingSystem list on fullstackopensource.com/ has been updated. The #FreeSoftwareFoundation column has been removed from Operating Systems since #PureOS was the only option on the list unfortunately. #MemorySafe has been added to the columns in its place.

  22. The NSA finally updated their list of memory safe programming languages and finally added Ruby. It bugged me that Python was listed, but not Ruby. Now they just need to add JavaScript, Crystal, Nim, and possibly Zig.

  24. I'm surprised to see a computer science topic become the talk of the Whitehouse, but here we are.

The memory safety features of #Python are one of the many things I like about it.

What are the memory safe features of Python? A few that spring to mind: automatic bounds-checking, can't use undefined object references, & no memory pointer arithmetic. IMHO, those features don't slow most business app development, & may actually speed development most of the time.

  26. *ANNOUNCEMENT* ISRG's @ProssimoISRG has officially made us the new home of "ntpd-rs", the #opensource #memorysafe implementation of the Network Time Protocol.

We are proud to be the new long-term maintainers, and as such are looking for early adopters.

Thanks to Josh Aas and Prossimo for the their trust and support!
