@sewing This isn’t that much of a challenge now because a lot of the clothes I brought on my #roadtrip are me-made. Still, I didn’t really think of skirts and dresses as camping clothes. They’re very comfy and convenient for driving days, especially because #ItHasPockets #Missoula-#Bozeman today. #Montana #AltText not working: a blue and mauve batik #GypsumSkirt

  2. #MeMadeMay2023 @sewing #HinterlandDress Met a relative’s widow for supper in Kalispell #Montana. I managed to leave my #MossJacket there which I confirmed after the relative phoned the restaurant for me. I have data but no phone service in the US, apparently.

  3. #MeMadeMay2023 @sewing Thrifted batik #GypsumSkirt A pretty quick and easy sew except for sewing the #FrenchSeam backward on one side and apparently, I also sewed one pocket in backward as well as not making the waistband quite tight enough. So, I’ll be doing some seam-ripping and some re-stitching after my #roadtrip is done. That’s 4 weeks from now. The skirt will work in the meantime. #ItHasPockets #sewing

These shorts have taken me a year to complete with thrifted sheets. Although I’d already made a pair out of flannel from a PJ pattern, I was determined to make these with #pockets and #FrenchSeams. I sewed every seam incorrectly multiple times but I kept picking them out and then going back to them a month or so later. They’re finally complete and very comfortable. Access to the pockets isn't as deep as I’d like but they’re good otherwise.

This #RibbonSkirt has been a labour of love that took me the last year to learn about and construct. I used instructions from a book that #Métis artist #LeahDorion co-wrote and I spoke to her and the Elder at #EPL about protocol and cultural respect. It will only be worn for #PowWow, #RoundDance and similar ceremonies and celebrations. Big thanks to @GenOlivier who recommended using a glue stick to get the ribbons on relatively straight!

  6. @sewing Here's a recent make being modelled for #MeMadeMay2023 The pattern was one that I bought for $1 and contains men's and boys' pants and raglan Ts. The flannelette was gifted scraps from someone else's Christmas PJ projects. I made the T for myself as my first knit project and I've made a few PJ shorts now for the grandkids. Super quick and easy project and the last one was all #FrenchSeams. One pair already split so size may need to be upped and seams probably need better reinforcement.

  7. @sewing Fuzzy photo of #MeMadeMay2023 Make 2 of #AshtonTop and make 1 of #GypsumSkirt I’m pretty happy with how both of these worked out. Made with more thrifted sheets and Japanese cotton for the skirt’s pockets. #ItHasPockets #pockets #sewing

  8. #MeMadeMay2023 @sewing This is a #WearableMuslin of a self-drafted skirt to wear over shorts. It was made with leftovers of low-cost broadcloth and #BaliBatik for the pocketbags. I didn’t like the length, the ease, or the pockets very much but purple is my favourite colour & I did a great job with a stitch-in-the-ditch enclosed waistband and the pockets were a new technique for me. Quite functional for home or errand days.

  9. #MeMadeMay2023 My first #AshtonTop. Lots I like about how this turned out with thrifted sheets. I struggled hard with the facing after sewing the side seams first. I won’t make that mistake again. Rectified the lack of #pockets yesterday. Sadly, these pockets were too small. I’ll lengthen my future makes to allow more space for the ever-essential #pockets. Also, more coverage of my lumpy bits. #WearableMuslin

  10. #MeMadeMay2023 #DawsonTop with #GypsumSkirt Top was just finished yesterday with thrifted cotton jersey. Collar was put in backwards so it had to be turned and sewed. Great pattern! Skirt was made from a sheet and pockets were from Japanese cotton. #sewing #ItHasPockets

  11. #MeMadeMay2023 #HinterlandDress and #MossJacket. Dress sewn with batik and jacket sewn with thrifted sheets. Working on more garments at a 3-day sewing retreat. #ItHasPockets

  12. #MeMadeMay2023 #MMIWG #NoMoreStolenSisters This #StudioTunic by #SewLiberated taught me a lot. Biggest thing being is that tunics and layering are not my thing. The pockets, made with cotton bought in #Vietnam and #Bali are too low and the inner pocket needs to be bigger to safely hold my phone. I liked making the tunic itself with thrifted sheets, even though the facings were a bit fussy. This is the reddest piece of clothing I own for #RedDressDay2023. Worn with a #TruthAndReconciliation tee.

  13. #MeMadeMay2023 The pants were one of my first makes. The rise is all errand there are sadly no #pockets. However, they’re comfy and functional and I spent hours searching the fabric markets in #Seoul before I found cotton prints for sale. The top is an AshtonTop #WearableMuslin made from a used sheet. It’s also sadly pocketless but I’m very happy with the facing, done with the #BurritoMethod. Also did #FrenchSeams so there are no raggedy edges.
