Last week or so, Linda May Han Oh and Melissa Aldana released a duet album, "Beneath Lifted Skies." It wasn't a surprise -- there were some articles out beforehand, maybe a single.
I noticed when I added it on Tidal a week ago, it wasn't showing on Melissa Aldana's page, just Oh's... But it had both their names.
Now, the cover art has changed, and only Oh's name is on it. Even the bandcamp album page makes it sound more like an Oh project, not a duo.

Wonder what happened?

New duo record of Linda May Han Oh and Melissa Aldana out in August:

Duo settings can be a tough sell for me, but this one interests me. (Also reminding me that I need to listen to that Mary Halvorson and Ambrose Akinmusire release again soon.)

Melissa Aldana - Filin
Filin—derived from Feeling—is a very "romantic style" album of ballads: think Dexter Gordon, Cannonball Adderly, Ben Webster, et al.
Aldana is joined by Cuban-born Gonzalo Rubalcaba (piano), Peter Washington (bass) and Kush Abadey (drums), and Cécile McLorin Salvant (v) on a few tracks.
It's a terrific record from start to finish: great tunes, beautifully played, and well recorded.

Whenever I listen to Melissa Aldana she sounds at the top of her game. Amazing performance here - and also that of über Mike Moreno on guitar (albeit he looks a bit impatient to start playing :)

Artemis - Artemis
Rosnes-led female jazz collective, overflowing with talented players (some previously featured) including Melissa Aldana (sax), Anat Cohen (clarinet), Ingrid Jensen (trumpet), Noriko Ueda (bass), Allison Miller (drums), and Cécile McLorin Salvant.
It'd be hard to screw that up. They definitely do not: great album.

Melissa Aldana - Echoes of the Inner Prophet
I went into this album expecting something a tad different than what I heard. Given the title, I thought this might be on the slightly “freaky” spiritual side, but it’s actually much closer to a Wayne Shorter album, which makes a lot of sense once you read about her history.
Anyway, it’s a nice selection of tunes on a soulful side of slightly abstract jazz, played with a lot of warmth.
