The butterfly keepers put out feeders full of a glucose mix of water, acacia honey is a main ingredient - and other essential nutrients to mimic their natural feeding habitat.
They also provide flower cuttings from the surrounds, as can be seen here.

At the #melbournezoo they house just gorgeous #giraffe!!
I must say I’ve never seen unhappy giraffe, they never give much away, but these ones appeared to me that they were living their best lives. Even in a zoo environment. Which is beyond pleasing!
My sons and I observed with interest and awe at these majestic beauties that were eating (later). It was early before the zoo opened and they WERE hungry once the food arrived.
The two males amongst them were playing nicely (we were told).
Their colouring and markings are beautiful.

The #melbournezoo is a must visit - and so too the lions!
They’re gorgeous.
I have mixed feelings about animals kept in captivity but the enclosures and conditions (feeding methods, living and downtime / care) here are meticulously planned and delivered to each animal it seems.
Many animals are on the endangered species list due to many ‘human’ reasons, breeding programs and conservation here are a prime focus we were advised.
Observing the behaviour of these lions closely tells me they’re living a pretty good life. You can see it in their demeanour - and their eyes.

During our recent zoo visit we saw wild (well, um… resident!!) #RainbowLorikeets - aren’t they just gorgeous?
We were there before opening time as we did a ’glamping’ overnight stay and the zoo keepers feed them first thing in the morning, in their accustomed hang-out place.
So the timing was perfect for some colourful and playful snaps!
