So lautet die Anfrage einer Leserin und besorgten Mutter, die ich zum Anlass nahm, dem Thema #Melatonin als Nahrungsergänzungsmittel auf den Grund zu gehen.
Was ich herausfand, ist erschreckend: #Melatonin kann Sexualhormone beeinflussen, es regelt u.U. das Eintreten der #Pubertät, es kann falsch eingenommen den Schlaf behindern anstatt ihn zu fördern.
Vor allem aber: Melatonin ist weder Schlafhormon noch Schlafmittel. Es ist Dunkelhormon und Zeitgeber für die innere Uhr.
Fazit: Hände weg von "Einschlafgummibärchen" für Kinder!

I take way to many #supplements in general. At night I take #melatonin, #taurine, #stjohnswort, #d3, #theanine, #glucosamine, #gaba and #magnesium. None of those are supposed to interrupt #sleep but here we are; mind's racing, heart rate's up, stomach's a little upset.
