The Financial Times interviewed people who witnessed the recent riots in Iran:

'There were groups of men in black clothes, agile and quick. They'd set one dustbin on fire, then move onto the next target.

Some of them [men dressed in black] looked like commandos. They were definitely organized, but I don't know who was behind them.'

Donors To Senator Robert Menendez's Legal Defense Linked To Iranian Ex-Terror Group

Sen. Robert Menendez is fighting charges of illegal ties to foreign governments with help from people associated with the MEK, a controversial Iranian exile group.

Sen. Robert Mendendez (D-N.J.) is fighting charges that he accepted money in exchange for assisting foreign governments. That legal defense is being paid in part by donors with links to a former terrorist organization, a sign of the senator’s need for fast cash.
In September, federal prosecutors hit Menendez and his wife with a raft of bribery charges and, more recently, obstruction of justice. (Menendez and his wife pleaded not guilty to the charges.) With a trial scheduled for May, Menendez stands to rack up staggering legal fees. His legal defense fund, according to public disclosures, had already spent $373,223 as of the end of January.
Much of the cash in the fund — he has raised over $400,000 — comes from sources you might anticipate. There are, however, many lesser-known donors. One is Ahmad #Moeinimanesh, an electronic engineer from Northern California. Another is Hossein #Afshari, also from California.
An analysis of the donor rolls by Responsible Statecraft and The Intercept shows that about 15 percent of the people who gave to Menendez
— including Moeinimanesh and Afshari
— are linked to an Iranian exile group called the Mojahedin e-Khalq, or #MEK.
Menendez and the MEK have a relationship going back a decade. Shortly after the group was removed from a State Department list of “foreign terror organizations,” Menendez advocated for the MEK following an attack on its members by the Iraqi government.
Menendez’s elevation of the group as a viable alternative to the Islamic Republic continued since then. The senator met with its leader, Maryam Rajavi, last May and heaped praise on the National Council of Resistance of Iran, a so-called political wing indistinguishable from the MEK, at a 2022 Capitol Hill event organized by the Organization of Iranian American Communities, a group allied with the MEK.

— "At the behest of the religious fascism ruling Iran, this morning around 1,000 Albanian policemen attacked Ashraf in a criminal and suppressive onslaught. They broke many doors, closets, and equipment and attacked the residents with tear gas and pepper spray. Many computers were broken or taken away.

As a result of this criminal attack, a member of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (#PMOI/ #MEK), Mr. Ali Mostashari, was killed and more than 100 people were injured due to police firing pepper spray. Many of them are in critical condition and some were transferred to Mother Teresa Hospital in #Tirana."

The actions of the Albanian police are reminiscent of the criminal attacks by Nouri al-Maliki forces on Camp #Ashraf in #Iraq between 2009 and 2015.

The Iranian Resistance demands that the U.S. Government and the United Nations, which have repeatedly guaranteed the safety and well-being of the residents of Ashraf, to condemn this criminal and barbaric behavior and provide the necessary guarantees to prevent these types of outlaw behavior that flagrantly violate many international treaties, including of the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the European Convention on Human Rights.

The European Union, for whose membership #Albania has applied, must condemn this barbaric attack and hold the Albanian Government accountable for this behavior."

France24: Iran exiled opposition furious after Paris police block rally

— "The National Council of Resistance of Iran ( #NCRI), a coalition that includes the People's Mujahedin ( #MEK) group outlawed by Tehran, alleged that the de facto ban on the rally was the result "pressure" on France by the Iranian government.

The NCRI, which calls for the overthrow of #Iran's clerical leadership, had asked permission for the rally in #Paris on July 1, with tens of thousands of supporters expected from France and across #Europe.

Paris police did not grant approval for the rally as it is "likely to generate disturbances to public order because of the geopolitical context", a Paris police source, asking not to be named, told AFP.

Authorities in 2018 foiled an attack against a major NCRI rally outside Paris. An Iranian diplomat was convicted of terror offences by a Belgian court over the thwarted attack, but was last month swapped for a Belgian aid worker held by #Tehran."
