Hi y’alls, i’m naura.

I love to process fiber. I have been learning how to scour, dye, prepare, spin for about 10 years now.

Unfortunately i had to downsize when we moved so i gifted all my fiber arts stuff to a good friend.

My favorite tools were my hand carders. I just found carding soo soothing. rolling the rolags off of them was also satisfying AF. #ToolTuesday

Unfortunately i had to downsize when we moved so i gifted all my fiber arts stuff to a good friend.

I'm a day late for #MeetMeMonday but I'm Frank and at this point I am mostly a quilter. I used to do a lot of sewing for Renn Faire costumes, but now I make quilts.
Here are some that I've done:
TL: A variation on a New England Star.
TR: A block patchwork quilt I made for my GF.
BL: The first quilt I started, a fence rail pattern I figured would be a good way to start.
BR: The first quilt I finished of a stylized sunflower. Made for my mother.

#MeetMeMonday I have been knitting on and off for years, never enough to really make much past the odd scarf or gloves (apart from one top and one cardigan) but recently I’ve made myself a promise to learn to make my own clothes, so have started to learn to sew.
Am also currently eyeing up some crotchet projects and basic macrame.
I’ve already made more this year than I have in the past several, and it’s been nice to see improvements

Day1 - #MeetMeMonday

These days I mostly knit and crochet, but I have also done a bit of hand spinning and embroidery, as well as some small experiments with cutwork lace. I enjoy learning challenging techniques more than finishing projects.

My first fiber art was crochet. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know how to crochet. I remember making countless little doilies that didn’t lie flat and I then turned into tiny pouches to carry my kid treasures.

My beloved godmother tried to teach me to knit when I was between 6 and 9. It didn’t stick. Then my mom taught me again when I was in my early teens. That kind of stuck but I didn’t develop proper skills until my 20s, when I got swept up into the Stich & Bitch movement and for my first project decided to knit a sweater even though everyone suggested I start smaller.

I finished it — and knit it all with twisted stitches for reasons I only understood much later.

I learned to knit in 2004, but never made it a consistent practice due to ADHD. In my periods of hyperfixation, I’ve knit some wild stuff like neon fair isle socks and little stuffed shrimp toys filled with catnip as gifts. Recently, I’ve gotten way more deliberate about #knitting garments and understanding how fiber content can impact the finished product. I missed the whole Covid knitting boom, but I guess I’m getting into the tail end of that now. I love watching knitting podcasts on YT while I knit, and I will knit anywhere in public.

I'm Sheru! Old queer crafter from the Pacific Northwest. I learned to knit from my Oma when I was a child. I dabbled with it off and on and got more serious about it just before the pandemic started. Also dabbled with crochet, but got more into that a year or so ago.

I enjoy natural yarns, interesting patterns, and feel strongly about size inclusion. Fatphobia is rampant in the fiber community. We need to stop uplifting non-inclusive designers.

Um... hi! I learned to knit as a kid, but for real I've been knitting since 2005, spinning since 2007, crocheting since 2011, and I picked up machine knitting in 2019 because why not. (Pictured: my knitting machine nook!)
