I've been explaining to patients for years that they don't need annual lipids. Nice to have it confirmed again in this episode of my favorite podcast.

We even have some third party administrators (TPAs) that here require them of insured patients.

These are only about $20 at our office but the big hospital network here in #Maine charges over $100 for a lipid panel test. That comes out of pocket for many patients.

@EmpiricGame that’s a really interesting question that I hadn’t considered. Perhaps #meded was used to identify those working in the medical education space rather than those providing medical education in their social media posts? Akin to the use of #Tweetiatrician to find those working in a similar area (eg advocacy for child health) but not nessisarily to identify content specific for only pediatricians. So #medmastadon would help people looking to interact about medicine find each other. 🧐
