Migrating my account, so here's a new #introduction :-)

I’m a #musicologist and #medievalist, an early-morning writer, woods-walker, gardener, birder, and habitual generalist who finds the world interesting.

My research centers on women’s religious communities in the later Middle Ages and early modern period: including music, sound and memory, plus the messy evidence of how people actually used their #books and #manuscripts. (I'm currently writing on the sisters of Thalbach in Bregenz: not-quite-nuns, they appear first as beguines and later as Franciscan tertiaries.) #nuntastic

There’s a lot of Brahms on my playlist, and Machaut (of course), and Barbara Strozzi, and even some #Bardcore.

I post research-in-progress and opine about my #garden (why are the rabbits INSIDE the fence?) and about the beauty around us (#sunrise is my favorite time of day).

#introductions:

I’m a #musicologist and #medievalist, an early morning writer and a regular woods-walker, and a generalist in the classroom (#Shakespeare; #pandemics). I research women’s monastic communities, especially their libraries. I’m currently focused on the Tertiaries of Thalbach in #Bregenz, Austria, with a side-tour to the #chaplains of the city. I’ve published on women as scribes and on historiography, but a lot of my current engagement is with German prayer-books.
