Really wary of all this "right-sizing" (don't look at me; that's the euphemism) talk in media firms today. But it's a good indication that we may look back on 2019-22 as the salad days of streaming, because it's looking like we're going to be paying more (or watching more ads) for fewer titles and narrower libraries, and that creators and craftspeople will face fewer opportunities and options as well.

CW: Introduction!
I just moved from another server, so time for another #introduction.
I'm a #mediastudies scholar and teacher focusing primarily on #mediaindustries and #television. I'm also the chair of my department, and am concerned with insuring the evolution of our field (and the #creative arts and #humanities more broadly), and greater #equity and #democracy in #highered.
I'm a longtime spouse, #parent of teens, and looming empty-nester, currently in #Texas, but spiritually floating all over points west.
I'm also a longtime media #fan, particularly of #DoctorWho, #StarTrek, and #CrimeFiction. I'm still into #comics, though admittedly lapsing a bit on that front. I'm into a wide variety of #music, but have drifted lately into #soundtracks, #housemusic, #electronic, and classic and contemporary #R&B.
