it's not #medaka or plants in terms of weekly income, but 400€ for 3 months of rearing ~50 #angelfish and ~50 #ancistrus to sellable size with zero effort isn't bad at all as far as this experiment goes (one 230l #aquarium only). break that down in a year assuming the fish breed as actively as they have, and it's roughly 1600€. enough to cover pretty much all #fishhobby expenses!
I plan to setup another large tank with #sterbai, #neocaridina, and #CPD. With #javamoss and #sessifilora and #53b!

Mittlerweile sind wir bei Tag 12 angekommen. Frau Ninja und Herr Roderich durften gestern wieder zurück zu den anderen #Medaka ins #Aquarium. Jetzt heißt es abwarten. Das Wasser hat ca. 21°C. Nach der Überschlagsformel zum Schlupfzeitpunkt in Tagen, also 250/Temperatur in °C, sollten heute die ersten Larven erscheinen. Da das aber wirklich nur ein grober Überschlag ist, verfalle ich nicht in Panik, wenn es noch 3 Tage dauert. -
I cleaned up the nice balcony #medaka pond enough to move there the medaka that were in the nasty garden medaka ponds (as well as the big water lilly).
Now, I wonder if I did the right thing. All the medaka in the balcony pond died last winter (No idea why, the snails survived, and I even spotted a shrimp - I thought shrimps were not supposed to live through the winter), whereas at least five, maybe more (the water is nasty) survived in the garden ponds. 🤔

Der vierte Tag unseres Medakapärchens beginnt mit großem Aufruhr. Frau Ninja hat sich ein Stück Teichlebermoos ins Maul gerammt, und bekommt es nicht mehr los. Sie flippt wild durchs ganze Becken und versucht verzweifelt das Teil in ihrem Hals loszuwerden. Sie konnte nicht mehr fressen mit dem Fremdkörper, und wenn #Medaka einmal Essigälchen ignorieren, dann ist irgendwas faul. Vorsicht mit einer Schale entnommen, so viel Wasser entfernt, dass der Fisch nicht mehr wirklich schwimmen kann, und dann mit einer Pinzette den Übeltäter entfernt. Jetzt schwimmt sie wieder ruhig im Becken, und Essigälchen haben keine lange Überlebenszeit in ihrer Nähe. #aquarium

- #kribs pair (54l tank)
- #bettas (6x 43l breeder tanks)
- #guppies (3x 110l tanks)
- #CPD (54l tank)as well as #ancistrus, #neocaridina and #aquariumplants, to maximize gains per tank. these are all the best to breed for trade- always in demand. good prices. only missing #medaka and #espei. no space tho.

Mal wieder etwas #aquarium content von mir. Ich weiß nur nicht, warum es auf den Bildern immer viel trüber aussieht als in der Realität. Ja, es war etwas trübe, weil ich direkt davor ein paar Pflanzen eingesetzt habe, aber nicht so wie es auf dem Bild rüberkommt. Die kleinen Fische darin sind der Medakanachwuchs von diesem Jahr. Also ein Teil davon. Ein Minischwammfilter ist im Becken um etwas Wasserbewegung zu verursachen. Wieder den Bodengrund mit Erde unter der Kies-Sand-Mischung. Leider sind beim Einsetzen der Schnecken und Garnelen ein paar kleine #Medaka mitreingerutscht. Deshalb habe ich die restlichen Fische gleich ohne einfahren des Aquarium eingesetzt, damit die nicht alleine sind. Mit Erde im Bodengrund hatte ich noch nie einen Nitritpeak, und Medakas vertragen aber auch locker 3-4mg Nitrit, ohne dass man ihnen irgendwas anmerkt. Die Laichen bei diesen Werten noch. Jetzt nach einer Woche sind wir bei 0,2mg Nitrit, also alles gut.

Last week I donated the pond fish (#medaka, #whiteclouds, and #notropis), today I donated the last batch of the tropical microfish (#sundadanio, #tetras) project. All that's left at home now are #guppies, #angelfish, #ancistrus, keyhole #cichlids, #corydoras and the old #kuhli loaches.
i'm not getting more corys or loaches; but they aren't disturbing any fish or eating fry so they get to stay.
will consolidate to just guppies, ancistrus, and #shrimp (neos) going forward. and my rare #plants :)

Ich hab seit wir die #medaka haben ein Weibchen, das jeden Tag laicht. Wenn ich nun aber die schwimmpflanzen durchsuche, finde ich keinen Laich. Ich habe sie jetzt abgefangen, und für einen Tag in ein kleines Ablaichbecken gegeben. Einige Eier hingen schon im Kescher. Heute abend darf sie zurück. Hoffentlich klappt es mit der Nachzucht.

Ich habe seit einigen Tagen Medakas, also japanische Reisfische. 9 Stück aus einem Teichmix, fast alle mit Glitzerschuppen, rot, orange, weiß gescheckt alles wild durcheinander, und zwei Miyuki Blue. Die zwei Miyuki wollte ich in einem extra Gefäß zum ablaichen bringen. Tut das nicht, zwei fühlen sich nicht wohl, ich habe sie jetzt mit dem Rest vereint, wo sie sich nach 2 Minuten sofort wohl fühlten. Dafür ist ihnen Nitrit wohl egal. Ich hatte deutlich über 2mg/l, und die Fische sind munter und laichen.

I know I said no more #medaka #メダカ. It just doesn't work well in our tap water and I hate the egg collection process in a planted #aquarium. But after some deliberation we're going to be keeping the last remaining group permanently outdoor in a heated #pond. If they don't survive next winter, then that will be that (though in theory they should do fine).

I must have tried a million times to take a good closeup of Ouhi ( 王妃 ). They are so hard to get right! Unfortunately I couldn't get a good capture (again) with the macro, so this will have to do!

For the past 3 months since dropping #medaka, I've been trying several different species, and I think I have finally settled on a favorite: #endlers. They have proven to be incredibly hardy, productive, healthy and beautiful. They remind me so much of #wcmm in form of care and ease of breeding in all aspects (except cold hardiness).
As secondary focus, I'll be heavily invested in WCMM for my pond hobby.

Here are two short videos of the same specimen.
Even if it's not a spotted bicolor, if I can develop a fixed pattern of a blue and gold color profile, that's perhaps even better than a buchi type approach considering its inherent instability. So this is a very interesting specimen for my pursuit of a " Sweden Kabuki " line.
I hope it will yield good results in the end.
