Back in December 2024, the local landmark #Bidwell Mansion burned to the ground here in #Chico, #California.

Here's a great article by Dani Anguiano from The Guardian about the Bidwells & their relationship to the indigenous #Mechoopda people.

According to the #Mechoopda historic preservation officer, the original name for the Big Chico Creek (which passes through the campus of #ChicoState) is Otak'im Sewi (meaning "creek that is rocky"). Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! #decolonize #IndigenousPeoplesDay
