Well, whatever, #introduction:
94. I mess with computers as my main activity and daily job. Jack of all trades, master of none: for now, ended as an engine developer at Remedy Entertainment, but used to do quite various things, like Unix and network administration, web and backend programming etc.
56. The daily job serves the main purpose to let my three cats have a better life.
40. Native bilingual in UA/RU, more or less fluent in EN, slowly learning FI, can read PL. Here, however, I'm gonna use English mostly, but feel free to react in all stated languages.
34. The most highlighted hobbies: movies (almost any genre), books (fantasy and sci-fi), boardgames, video games, audio recording and sound design, custom mechanical keyboards, roguelikes, font design, UI/UX.
58. As of movies, I collect blu-ray disks. Partially because it's the only legal and reliable way to keep the stuff I paid for with me, partially because I love behind the scenes stuff way too much.
77. I can't eat spicy food.

Does anyone know where I could get a set of rainbow keycaps (ideally quite pastel) for my ErgoDox EZ?
Really struggling to find anything. Happy to cobble something together by buying the same set multiple times if needed.

So I've been mapping this old Japanese keyboard and it seems to have a 19x8 matrix?! There's three demuxes driving the switches (3 + 8 + 8 pins used) and one mux reading the output. Fujitsu engineers, please explain what was going on. My #Arduino only has 24 digital pins... ;_;

Ok, so how exactly do I start mapping out where the keyboard matrix column & row pins are that I should tap into? :blobcatnervous: 😅 I guess it's just a long process of beeping with the multimeter?

Next hack project is waiting. :) This will be a Christmas gift to my brother, making a USB conversion of it. At least that's the plan, you know they don't always plan out as expected. :D

I've started thinking more seriously about learning #colemak (-DH). Is this a Very Silly Endeavor?
Previously my reasoning to stay with QWERTY was "can't always bring my layout with me" but actually I've been routinely travelling with custom keyboards for the last couple of years so this is untrue.
Nobody else can use my #mechboards anyway and keyboard sharing is bad hygiene.
Remaining objection is shortcuts. But with #qmk can swap layout quickly if really necessary for gaming, DAW etc.

CW: nerd stuff: mechanical keyboards
I've noticed a strange effect while migrating to increasingly small and ergonomic keyboards (Full-size -> 12×5 -> 12x4 -> 12x3 + 6); the more time spent in the home row region, the more I feel disrupted by annoying stretches/moves. I used to hate ctrl and backspace, then avoided stretching for numbers, now shift is gone and I'm looking suspiciously at the letter P... There must have been a lot of floating before even while "touch typing".

3 years ago I didn't have a single #MechanicalKeyboard and the height of my typing experience was a 90's beige Key Tronic rubber dome. Then I got a discarded Cherry from work that I restored, and it bit me… Family photo update. #mechanicalkeyboards #mechboards
