I just got a new pencil case from Nash Packs that has now taken over my afternoon.

I am having far too much fun trying to decide which eight pens/pencils I should place in the main pockets.

Interesting. Soe one of the things I noticed about my Pentel Orenz Nero is that at .5mm it made very light lines. To where it was actually a little hard to read. So I went down to B2 lead which basically fixed the problem.
Apparently I wasn't the only one that had this issue. As this year Pentel changed the leads that come with their Orenz line mechanical pencils from HB to B. It's not as soft / dark as the leads I'm using, but it's a step in the right direction.

Today's pencil: Staedtler 925-25-07. My favourite mechanical pencil in my collection - I haven't used it much lately. I've been using my Pentel Kerry a lot, because it looks sleek and is unique in that it's "postable" compared with pretty much every pencil out there. This particular Staedtler is currently loaded with 0.7mm "B" lead, and is smooth as butter. #Stationery #MechanicalPencils

Folks that use mechanical pencils a lot. If I want a darker line at .5 what lead would you suggest?
Right now what I have is HB and it leaves a lighter line than I'd like, to where it can be hard to read if I don't bear down on it.

I decided to buy some more mechanical pencils for my art, because the ones I bought (faber castell) at the art shop keep snapping my lead.
Naturally, I went to r/mechanicalpencils for guidance, and boy howdy did those folks came through! They have very strong opinions on the Pentel Graphgear 500 vs. Pentel GraphGear 1000, eg, and I soaked it up like a sponge.
I know what they all say about redditors, but those VERY SPECIFIC interest-based subreddits are still gold.

Just finished a whirlwind day as a vendor at #Scriptus2025 held at the Toronto Reference Library. This is my second year and like always, the 6 hours pass in a moment.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to browse, purchase, and/or chat about #fountainpens and #mechanicalpencils at my table.
It was a blast meeting everyone and I hope to see you all again next year! 😁

Believe it or not, these are all the same pencil - a Leuchtturm Drehgriffel Nr.2 in Pacific Green. None of them are accurate depictions of the colour as seen by the human eye.

Looks like the end of the road for my Pilot Birdie pencil - it keeps snapping the lead about half an inch from the writing end, and it hasn't fed in new lead in years.
Does anyone have any advice and/or opinions on:
Lamy Logo 106
Filofax Barley Mini
Leuchtturm Drehgriffel nr 2
bearing in mind that I have small hands and may carry the pencil in a skirt pocket?(#FountainPen enthusiasts, does your knowledge base extend to mechanical pencils?)

Saw these colored mechanical pencils at Dollar Tree and had to try them. Especially like the set reflecting diverse skin tones.

It had to happen eventually, right? My latest blog post is live!

This month I'm taking a look at 2 #MechanicalPencils that I had a legal obligation to review (thanks Brad 😆).
There's also a brief cameo from some lovely colour-shifting #FountainPens, and maybe even a guitar...

I got it into my head that I needed the Uni Kuru Toga Dive, even though I REALLY don't. But it had to be the purple/green colour shifting version or nothing at all. I managed to find a Taiwanese store that had them in stock (as well as a long-discontinued pen I've been after for years, maybe next month). I love colour shifting items, and the effect on this pencil is gorgeous! I'm looking forward to trying it our more & seeing how it compares to the Kuru Toga Roulette.

Just FYI, for people who write a lot with mechanical pens, check out the Kuru Toga line with rotating lead engine. Every time you lift up your pen the lead rotates slightly which keeps your lead relatively sharp to a point. They are also very affordable at <$20 on amazon.
Just a note, they are inexpensive so despite some of them looking like metal they are light and plastic. But they seem high quality and dont break easily.

@ana This pencil is so enticing! 🤩 I've been eyeing all those interesting mechanical pencils on JetPens and know I will give in to one of them one day soon.

Different from my usual #FountainPen content, but this time I decided to splurge on a #MechanicalPencil and get the Rotring 600!
It has a good weight to it and it feels nice to hold. I went with the 0.5mm version because I tend to draw a lot of fine details; my only complaint is that there isn’t a 0.3mm version (if there is, JetPens didn’t carry it).

@penfount I've been curious about Edacoto pens for quite some time. They sold Aurora #FountainPens with their #MechanicalPencils for some time until they learned how to make pens. I've found an Edacoto 87 from the 1930s (not really recent or upcoming), and I'm very interested in how it behaves and how it compares with the same period Aurora pens.

Does anyone here collect #Mechanicalpencils? I just got a tombow mono graph 0.5mm in neon blue. I like it a lot so far.

Finally a NPD again :D This time I got a rOtring 800 mechanical pencil and love it so far!

I just gave up waiting for the Kuru Toga Dive and ordered a #Rotring 800. Given the current eBay prices I doubt the Dive will make it here before the Playstation5 🤪

Wow, the new #KuguToga looks just awesome! Let's see if this will also make its way to Europe... soon!!! https://www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalpencils/comments/suizzp/uni_kuru_toga_dive/
